hi guys

I've hit a hitch with my pull start ,whenever i pull the pullstart,it will spin the flywheel properly when pulling it out but when the pullstart winds in,it still spins the flywheel but it spins backwards even though the flywheel isnt meant to spin when the pullstart winds in.so my owb catches both directions even though it is meant to slip when it winds in,how do i stop it from catching both ways

thanks

Most likely it needs replaced. You can try cleaning and lubricating it. With the PS removed how does the OWB react by hand? How does the starter shaft look where the OWB rides?

Must be a strong spring to turn the engine over on the recoil (or a very worn engine).

You must be mistaken. The one way bearing WILL spin on recoil, but it spins freely. It just isn't possible for the recoil spring to turn the flywheel. If it really is, there's no way you'd feel compression when pulling, since something is obviously broken in there.

I agree with Rolex on this one...I have not seen one that would spin it backward and forward....if it did your engine would never start or run since the bearing would not allow the engine to.

well it spins the flywheel when it gets pulled out and when it winds in but if i use one of those handheld starters that you put against the fly wheel,it starts really easily,i just need to tune it,the engine is at least 15 years old .if you want i gould get a video of it so that you definitely know what is happening,it seams really strange to me aswell
