Hi, I have just finished making an on board NOS system for my 2.5 Tmaxx.

here is is:

http://www.peter-hoare.co.uk/nos.jpg

Its fully radio controlable and the nitrous is stored in the aluminium bulbs shown in the picture.

I havnt tested it yet becasue the head on my old trx 2.5 has a striped glowplug hole but a new one arrived this morning so i will give it a run today.

what do you think?

Not bad on the creativity. However, a word of caution; if you run that, you will risk blowing the engine. Running NOS will create a SEVERE lean condition. To the point of potentially being FATAL.

That being said, you could run it, but to be dreadfully honest, you won't see much of an improvement. Perhaps 2%, if that. You may, however, experience engine failure, largely due to lack of lubrication at high RPM.

If you don't care about the engine, go for it. I'd honestly be interested to see what a Traxxas engine does with a shot of NOS.

Whatever ya do; get a video of it running.

Re

I dont really care about the engine, i recently invested in an RB engine which seems to do the job. The TRX just sits on top of the filing cabinet all day getting dusty, might as well give it a good send off.

I know that NOS makes a big differnce in RC engines, there is a video of a pro .15 t-maxx on rcpics.net and the guy is fuling it from a big NOS bottle, not an on board one. Its on a rolling road and the tyres go so fast they start to balloon out and come off the rims, so the nitrous does do something.

I'm going to give it a quick bench run today with the wheels off the ground and only a tiny bit of gas and if that works il anchor the gas can down and take it to a carpark and so some draging with it, maybe rev to 1/4 throttle then inject the nitrous and continue accelerating to see the boost...

Thanks,

Pete.

UPDATE:

I just hung the truck from the celing with the wheels off the ground to test the nitrous at idle. I was abit eager with the nitrous lever and it vented far too much into the air filter and it stalled instantly. I have since glued a peice of lollypop sitck onto the back of the trigger which should prevent the trigger from coming down to full power.

I agree with Heartbreak, very creative indeed, but he's right, there is no measurable improvement in performance using NOS in a nitro engne. You asked for thoughts, and my thoughts are; it's a waste of time, waste of money, more a "bling" factor than a true performance enhancer and will end up killing any engine it's used in.

I've seen small NOS systems for R/C cars before and it's been debated on these boards for awhile with the same basic conclusion; that it looks much cooler than it is.

Maybe you'll prove me wrong, but you won't see a NOS system on any of my rigs anytime soon.

R/C car action built a savage in the April '06 issue with the New Era H4X4 conversion kit and added an O.S. .30 VG WITH nitrous. They spent $200 on a kit to install it. heres what they said "The system fires a shot of nitrous into the carp when the throttle servo reaches full throw. When this happens, you feel the engine kick harder, rpm increase, and theres a telltale plume of smoke from the exhaust. Just be prepared to chew up a few glow plugs!" Just my $.02

I recently tested a performance part that I made. I invested 40$ on a kit to install.
While running on my treadmill at full speed I shoved a 4 cell Mag light up my ass. At full speed, I kicked harder, rpm increase, and theres a telltale plume of smoke from my exhaust.

Give that one a try. It will yield approximately the same results.
Now you can say you head it here!

Good grief, Eddy! Now I have to clean up the coffee I just sprayed all over my laptop from laughing so hard!

Man, that is PRICELESS!

Ed stop lying...4 cell...yeaaah right...you was using the 6 cell light....and liked it too....

I don't care what the NOS does...I just want to see it on video....lol....even if it blows up still be cool to watch....

WHere as I on the other hand, are still trying to work out what he mens by 'shoved a 4 cell Mag light up my ass. :-D

I can't see any reason why it wouldnt work, nitrous oxide is just an oxidiser so if its sprayed into anything with combustion and fire it will speed things up...

anyway for the breif thee secons before the engine stalled (due to too much nitrous) it did certaintly speed up and I didnt even touch the acelerator stick...

I am fairly sure it willw ork and provide a noticable boost...

It will "Ork" just fine. But will it work?

There in an article in Xtreme RC about this. Its tested on a bench with proper equipment and had some positive results. Its a controversial subject. Use the search button on this site and you will see it has been discussed over and over again. Its close to a dead subject here due to how often it has beat to death.

LMFAO! Aluminum or rubber handle?

Aluminum with cross hatch etching. For the full effect it needs to be kept in the freezer for 12 hours before hand.

This is an exclusive RCNT venture. Yes folks you read it here first. I know other forums will claim they did it first but we know the truth.

WHAT...no video to prove it worked ED?

harp001...
good luck with the n2...and yes a video of the traxxis motor gernading would be cool.

Just one question Ed...........do you turn it on before, or after:ponder2:

i strapped a big bang rocket to my electric tamiya once the was funny :) my own kind of off the line Nos for eleccys :) only down side is that very weird bang at the end of the strip.... wonder wher my rubber tyres went!

i want to see a video of that nos in action would be sweet

why didnt you save up a little bit more and put it in your car now that would be better

these threads make me wanna hit someone.

At least with the flashlight in the ass you only out a few bucks and look like a moron. Instead on buying NOS because you watched to many fast and furious movies, looking like a dumbass and then wasting alot of dough. All I'm gonna say is these are 2 stroke engines.. Putting in "Nos" is going to have th same results as a bottle of farts.
