Is there anyway to strip the paint off these bodies or would the chemicals more than likely melt the plastic?

It can be done but I've never tried it. Frankly, it's easier just to buy a new body and a can or 2 of paint and do up one from scratch. I have heard it's tricky and takes a fair amount of time to get the paint off the inside of the bodies and you do run the risk of scratching or frosting the plastic. I think for the $30 that a body and paint would run, it's just easier to do a new one.

I've done it but it takes a lot of time and it doesn't come off 100%. Just hot water though, no chemicals. If you found the right chemical for the job it might work better but like Candyman stated, it's plenty worth the time and money to buy a new body.

So just running it under hot water will work? I'd just like to take off some of the layers of paint on my T3 body.

it depends on if the paint is waterbased. i know that i used createx auto air on a lid and a solution of simple green took MOST of the paint off i still had the old paint in certain areas, it turned out to be a basher body.

only if it's a waterbased paint like stated above. I've been using Fascolor since I started in this hobby so that's the only stuff I'm familiar with. I messed up mini-t body once and stripped it with just hot water and a lot of finger friction. Believe me, it's a pain in the ass. It worked fairly well, though not perfect. It left a slight dusting of the original color. I kinda think that the type of coat that was originally sprayed will make a big difference in how it comes off. If the orignal 1st coat was heavy (which it shouldn't be) it may come off easier. If you painted it correctly with really light coats it'll be a pain in the ass. I had a really hard time getting red pearlized orange off. Good luck if you try this. In retrospect, it would have been a hell of a lot easier to buy a new body but when all things were said and done I saved $20 and the new paint job turned out fine.

It took off the top layer and decals easily. There is another layer just over the original body but its black which is what I'm going to paint it so thats good.

Thanks everyone!

on my first body i forgot to put the window masks in and what i did to take the paint off was just use a little fingernail polish remover. Worked like a charm for me.
