I have a healthy trail of blue smoke, when I pull the throttle wide open, I can flip the truck over, but if I keep a steady speed on the high end, it bogs. Where do I go from here?

Too rich up top most likely. Lean it by 1 hour and see what it does. What kind of temps are you running after a few wide open passes?

130-140, but that's about the same as I was getting on the last engine, and the tune was great on it. Same engine as this one.

In any case, I'll try that next chance I get. Probably Sunday, going to be too busy the next two days to deal with it.

You might want to lean as MotoGod said. Most people run their engines at around 170-180*.

130-140 is barely warm (hopefully you're talking in F anyway). Lean that baby out! Ideally you want to be upwards of 200ish in most cases, but wherever it runs good should be fine. My ALpha likes to be at 230, my Revo liked 290 and my RB liked 240...so they are all a bit different, but 140 is WAY too cold.

140 is actually probably doing some damage. What's the ambient temp? I see your up north a little ways. If it's still below 50 up there, you may need to wrap the head with some foil or a baby sock to keep some heat in.

It was in the 60s when I was running it.

Thing is, when I lean it, it seems to get worse.

Well if it's overly rich....it may continue to bog until you get it tuned properly. If I were you, I would warm it up....then lean the HSN 1/4 turn and see what it does. You should see temps rise @ 20-30 degrees or so. See how it runs then. If it still bogs on top during a high speed pass...start leaning it 1 hour at a time (1/12th of a turn) until the bog at wide open goes away.

Once you have the top end tuned....do a full throttle start from a dead stop and make sure the bottom end isn't bogging.

I have a feeling your top end is overly rich, and your bottom end is overly lean.

Got a little tuning time in today, wrapped the head with aluminum foil, got it up to 200. Hopefully tomorrow I can work on the lsn. Really sucks, I had my last motor in a sweet spot, and I can't get this one there.

Wrapped the head about ten times with foil, didn't have a baby sock. Still couldn't get the temps up to 200, so I said screw it. Harbor Freight has a 1500 watt heat gun on sale for $9.99, so I got it. It was hard to maintain the temp long enough to get a tune, but I got it set. I'm uploading video to YouTube right now, and it will be posted in the videos section here when it's done.

Btw, running great at about 210f.
