I broke in my savage one idle tank 3 tanks half throttle still havent got full throttle. ANYWAY. I can't seem to get it tuned right... I got a temp gun and all. First I could not get it to idle... all flush factory ya right... It wouldnt even start. I set the main idle like the manual says to 1mm and left the others flush and wouldnt start. So I screwed in the low speed control it finally started but kept dying till i had the low speed control like 2 whole turns in and then it finally idled. I doubt its suposed to be this way... but ya.. So I finially got it to run... not right I'm sure but it did run after i messed with the high speed needle cause id get to half throttle and it would die. BUT then it kept over heating.... Please help I'm irritated...

I think i may have figured out my problem.... Leave the low speed screw at flush dont touch it and use the main idle one to get it going??? It was over heating cause its to lean cause i screwed the low speed screw in to much right?

You're actually tricking the engine into starting while it's out of tune. You need to put the low speed needle back to the factory setting. Then, like you said, adjust the high speed needle to get it started, Once you get the high speed needle right and the engine is start and running pretty good, then you can make very fine adjustments to the low speed needle, but it's mostly going to be the high speed needle that you will be adjusting. You should not adjust the low speed at all until break in is finished and you should not adjust the high speed needle much. The break in settings are set like they are for a reason, so that you don't tune the motor too much until after it's broken in because you want the engine to be running much richer than normal during break in, according to the instruction manuals that come with the truck.

But it wont run... kind of hard to do it if it wont run lol. I started my truck at least 300 times today not exagerating.

The LSN on Savages usualyy does not need more than 1/2 turn in at the most after break-in. Put your needles back to factory settings.
Install a new MC-59 glow plug and get out your hair dryer or heat gun.
Preheat that puppy until it is 150F, then try to start it. It should idle fine, but you will need to blip the throttle slowly every 3 or 4 seconds to keep it running.
Lean the needles in 1/8 turn increments.
If it will not idle at all slowly lean the lsn until it will idle long enough for you to put the ignitor and roto-start down.

Right. Or you can just set the idle screw to 1mm and use your throttle trim adjustment on the transmitter.

Put the LSN back as stated above. Use the trim on the transmitter to open the throttle a bit to start it. After it reaches temp you can back off the trim and adjust the idle screw to get it to idle and stay running. As you get it tuned in, you may need to re-adjust the idle screw.
I almost always use the trim when first starting mine then back it off when warmed up and all is good.

That's the exact purpose of the trim knob.
When you set the LSN and the idle, your trim should be all the way off, with brake applied.

OH... good to know these things lol. Well I got it fixed.... kinda today lol. It seems to me that its not getting all the power it needs toward higher throttle like its cutting out but I'm afraid to mess with it cause the temp is doing good around 230 and also it seems to me that it should shift before it does... I have never ran one before either though so this is all new to me. By the way thank you for all the help guys.
