i just bought a savage x ss due to it being accompanied by my future remote (Spektrum DX 3.0), now the question i have is, I'm new to the nitro engine and smaller scale, but i do have a race track in town where everyone drives truggy and buggy style vehicles, now the point is, should i sell the savvy and get a revo (since it was recommended to me for being a all-rounder) or should i keep the savvy and get a buggy or truggy, if so please steer me in a direction that i want to go right of the get go:) and maybe add this onto my list of questions, how much should i ask for the savage, it was run for about 4 hrs as the seller stated, looks pretty clean to me.

thank you guys
p.s. heres some pics of the savvy i bought:

Should you sell the Savvy ? NO, I would say KEEP THE SAVVY !!!!!

First up, the savvy is a damn good rig, better than the revo even,

Second up, the savvy is especially for good bashing.

For racing, the revo would be better, in my opinion at least, (although that may not be the opinion of others) due to the ability to lower the ride height a fair bit and thus lower its Centre of gravity to make it more stable, wheras the Savvy is tall and top heavy, although still an adequite racer in it's class.

As to a truggy or buggy, it depends entirely what you want from it. Both vehicle types handle differently.

Buggys are low slung and require flat or near flat terrain, whereas "Truggy's" are higher and wider, can handle rougher terrain due to the increased ground clearence, yet be lowered for better handling for racing purposes.

A "Truggy" is essentially a buggy with longer suspension arms, different wheels, a different shock setup and different gearing to suit the different size wheels and thus final drive ratio, which makes them a cross between a Truck and a Buggy hence the name "Truggy". Also, Truggy's are a little more forgiving than a buggy is.

I hope i have not clouded or confused the topic of what to buy, i am just trying to pass on what "information" i have learnt and the way in which i understand it. ;)

from my understanding the savannah rc club is based on racing on their corse which looks like this :

thanks guys, i guess i keep the savy and get one of ^^those :) i ll need some help modding it as soon as it arrives :)

That, my friend, is a 1/8 scale buggy !!!! It actually looks like an ofna buggy, but i could be WAY off !

Buggy's can be a blast tho.......especially set up the right way.

there we go, that is what i want as car :) just need to find one of the better ones there are :)

If you lowered the savvy and softened up the suspension you should be able to drive it at the coarse and not flip over to much.:hehe:

Well, that's kinda what i meant when i said the savvy was "top heavy" Taxxass. Personally i call em TraxARSE, but thats just me !! lol :hehe:

Man I agree I really want a savage but with me being 15 I am content with my present ride. FOR NOW. I treats me rite but the savvy takes a hell of a lot more beating then the t-maxx.

as mentioned i could keep the savvy and just buy another buggy like in the picture, cuz they pass on the corse about anything other then the buggys :P

If your looking at a new rig, a buggy would be ok, but a truggy would be better, as i said before, it depends what you want. If you intend to race in the buggy class you will need a buggy any other "type specific" class is the same.

All i can truly say is CHOOSE WISELY before you buy and ENSURE that you can get good back up in regards to parts availability. Beleive you me, having to order and wait for parts because an LHS doesn't carry the spares you need is an absolute pain in the arse.

Also, choose your vehicle type wisely aswell, it will be with you for some time and any "New" rig is always an investment, good, bad, or downright ugly.

what would you suggest to get in buggy or truggy class that would kinda hit the upper class in quality but not really like a 1000 dollar chassis :)

a cpl suggestions would be great.
and with parts, I'm not tooo concerned, since I'm not into racing yet it really wouldnt matter to drive one weekend with only the savage :)

What to "Get" depends on how much $$$ you have to spend. There are a LOT of brands out there to choose from. Personal choice would be a thunder tiger product, but then, i am "For" thunder tiger in a big way, good products, good back up. The ST-1 Truggy has seen some VERY favourable reviews, whilst both the EB4 S2 and EB4 S3 buggy's are also excellent platforms.

Do not forget though, that there are a LOT of manufacturers competing with many different "Platforms" (Buggy, truggy Muggy, MT et al) for your $$$. Maybe ask at your local track and see which is the most popular "rig" and for what reasons. Everyone makes choices, each for a different and personal reason. However , if seven out of ten people run one PARTICULAR rig, then there must be a good reason for it.

Maybe consider what is "Raced" at your local track or tracks.

Check out your LHS and see what they recommend or what is the most popular "rig" that they sell.

Everything goes towards helping to make a choice. I went with the same manufacturer as the first buggy i was given which was a thunder tiger. I have always had good experience with their products. Maybe i should have looked at other "Rigs", but my experiences led me straight into a new platform of the same make.

sounds logical :)

but yeah i m looking to drop somewhat around 500 for the buggy for the start i would say, since i have to consider buying parts for the savvy soon :)
