RC Driving Style
  1. Bashing
I've learned that the savage is better than the tmaxx. now, is the revo worth the money compared to the savage or is the savage a better starter truck even if it isnt as good?

ok so? i need help guys please

Well it depends if you racing or bashing. Racing I would say Revo hands down. The questions has been asked here hundreds of times and your going to get all the savage owners saying to get a savage and all the Revo owners saying get a Revo. You can probably search the two sections and form a pretty good opinion on your own based on what is said there and how you plan to use the truck.

ok I'm prolly thinkin more toward the savage as my 1st considering no local tracks but maybe the revo later if i really get into the hobby and find somewhere to race

Dont let the revo intemidate you thought its a great solid truck and iv see guys bash the hell out of them. I'm not Baging on the savage in any matter because thats my birthday present to myself. :D

lol yea but i dont think I'm ognna be doing any racing any time soon

People with both will ask the question "Racing or bashing?". I have both. Savage for bashing, revo for not bashing. Granted, bashing is all I do with both of mine, but I have quite a bit of money wrapped up into both of mine. So, both bash pretty well. I doubt my revo would be race worthy considering my setup, but it does still handle turns and whatnot better than the savage.

Rarely am I working on the savage.

ok let me get this strait, bashing means pretty much just driving around jumping and stuff right?

yay! lol ok thats what i thought, but i decided i didnt want to be thinkin the wrong thing

That and running in non-rc friendly enviorments. Off of 6 foot wooden ramps, off huge dirtpiles in a quarry or construction sites with rocks and what not jutting up out of the ground.

Basically, anything that isn't a groomed purpose built track for RC's is considered bashing.

Although, with my driving capabilities, track or no track, it would be considered bashing ;)

Seriously go with what you like and you reasearch points you too. Dont follow someone else over a cliff so to speak. Do your homework and choose one that you think will best fit you needs for what you want to do. There is alot of really good information on this site along with a few other trusted sites. Just take you time and figuar it out.

I dont get what your saying exactly but so far i got 350 into my truck after costs of the truck. As soon as i got mine i put rpm arms on it and that saved me some money I'm shure. But this weekend I'm going to the desert camping and I'm going to bash the poop out of my revo. Then when i get home I'm going to get the tekno stuff and tires and a 3.3 motor. So ya it just what your into and your price range.

Ya I'm so excited on this trip dirt bikes, rc cars, turkey, and family. Whats better than that. lol.

lol so how much you had to pay in repairs for your trucks?

I've been in the hobby for 5 years. I've spent a lot upgrading and fixing. If I had to guess, I've probably spent around $6K-$7K so far. I've also had 8 or 9 vehicles. Currently only have 3, savage, revo and mammoth.

Well, I've had my savage for 2 or 3 years, so I've put a lot of money into it with engines, parts, upgrades and whatnot. But, to get it as it sits today I guess it would be:
Savage roller - $200 (from skymaxx here on this forum)
Lunsford tierods - $50 (forum)
Alum diff case - $25 (forum)
4-gear diffs - $50 (ebay)
Used SH 28 - $40 (forum)
8 OFNA buggy shocks - $120 (ebay)
Skips custom delrin towers - $50 (forum)
FM radio/servo's - $160 (new at the LHS)
Polished HPI pipe - $25 (forum)
t-maxx tires/wheels - $40 (ebay)
OFNA fuel tank - $10 (new at the LHS)

Very little of my truck was bought at a store or a shop online. Most of it off of ebay and forums. All the junk in the list is $770 to best memory, but I'd have to round it off at $850-$900 including odds and ends.

You will find that once you buy something, you will want to change it to suit your needs/wants/abilities. I know I suck at driving and I know my terrain is very rough and hard on RC's. So I build them tough. Sometimes not the nicest to look at... but I drive alone and it works for me.

As for the revo:
Bought off forum as RTR for $300 w/ RPM arms all around. Otherwise pretty much stock.

I've installed:
OS 18TM - $220 (LHS)
Maxx rims/tires - $40 (ebay)
alum 14mm hubs - $15 (LHS)
FM radio/servo's - $160 (new at the LHS)
TiN coated gold shock shafts - $20
Fantom pipe - $7 (ebay, got lucky, it's a $65 pipe)
P2 rockers - $10
BB air filter - $20

On that list $792, but probably $850 with other misc stuff.

It all adds up, but it's fun.
