noob needs advice pls

Hello,
having a little problem with my trophy truggy its a month old and its having trouble idling it either stalls or drives off could this be a glowplug problem?

iv had a look at the plug and it glows red so I'm guessing its dieing on me.

as for tuning the LSN passes the pinch test (well is an 8th turn rich) and on the HSN it is not bogging and its not to hot spit takes about 10seconds if not longer to evaporate off the heat-sink,

just looking for a little advice as its my first nitro RC.

If the truck won't idle without turning the wheels your problem lies somewhere in the clutch department. Either seized bearings, or broken clutch springs or hanging shoes.
 
thanks, so is there no chance it could be to do with the tuning? i thought i was the glow plug because its been getting worse, i was driving it in the snow as well,

so what do i do to have a check the clutch out? any tips or tricks to getting the gears lined up correctly
 
Sounds like it's running way too cool to me. Get a temp gun if you don't have one. Throw a new plug in it and wrap the head with a layer of aluminum foil. Make sure it's smokin' good. Spit should boil off in 4-5 seconds.
 
would it running cool be the idle problem? i can lean the HSN to get the temp up but the main issue I'm having it with the thing creeping away when left to idle
 
Leaning it to get the temp up will ruin the engine. It needs the proper amount of lube. That's why people wrap the heads when temps run too cool. Wrap the head and what the temps close, making sure it smokes good. Make no adjustments until the truck is warmed up(220 or so). What kind of truck is it? How cold is it outside?
 
its a hpi trophy truggy, its not to cold its 6 degrees now but it 3:10am so bout 10 degree when I'm out with it,

when it i got it it was like -5 deg for bout 2week and it worked good just took alittle to get it started,
its running on byrons 25% fuel
 
That real cold for a nitro truck. You fuel could be jelling. Just be sure to get the temps up where they belong. Running it cool is wearing it out faster.
 
so later when i take it out get it up to temp by covering the heatsink with tinfoil,

then once up to temp what sould i do about the clutch engaging while idle?

should i change the glowplug to a hotter one?
 
started the car up today and got it up to temp (4/5 sec spit test) and it stalled after i adjusted the LSN a little,
when i tried to start it up again it would not start so i took out the glowplug and its dead,
guna get a new 1 2moro and if it still wants to move its guna be sumet to do with the clutch,
prob just the spring the shop said,

anybody got any other ideas? whats the best way to mesh the gears if i have to check the clutch?
 
just wondering how tight the clutch shoes should be? how easy should it be to open them? on my engine its very easy i can open them with my fingers is this the issue?
 
Clutch Springs are usually based on personal preference. I run (2) 1.1 springs and (1) .9 spring in my Truggy. The heavier the spring (higher number) the more the engine will have to rev to engage the shoes and make them move. This results in a more "snappy" launch. The softer the spring (lower number) the less RPMs are needed to get it moving...and it tends to come on a little less abrupt when it does engage.

The 1.1 springs are fairly heavy, but I can still move the clutch shoes by hand without too too much force.
 
thanks for the info, iv got a stock 2pc composite clutch,
iv checked everything again, HSN 1 1/2 turns from factory settings, idle 1mm LSN iv put back to factory settings (flush) and it still wunt stay still so i checked the clutch and it was very easy to open and the spring kinda looks stretched but iv nothing to go off so I'm gunna get a new spring 2moro as well and replace that (debating if to get a 3pc clutch set for it?)

Get a normal 3 shoe setup with 1.0 springs. I guarantee it will fix the problem IF you install it correctly.
 
Nope that should do it. good choices. I have run the Answers before. they are good.
Your engine is a big block right? Hope so otherwise that clutch won't fit.
You also need to stock up on CB bearings. Buy them in 10 packs. They go quick.

Thanks for the help changed the clutch and its sorted idle a full tank with out it turning the wheels,

iv put 2, 1.1mm and 1, 1.0 springs in,
