Is this car really that bad?

I have one and it seems just as fast as any other 1/10 scale car on my local track. I can't be the only person that has one.

They are pretty much a beginer car and people get frustrated and move on. Glad you are enjoying the model, it is just not that popular around here especially with previous owners.

Well, if it's a noob's car, then it's perfect for me cause I'm new to on-road. I've had off road for years but this is my first street car. It's the fastest RC I've ever driven. Pretty much a handful for me.

That's brings up a good point. At least you know your limits. A lot of people when first starting out get the bigest badest fastest car and the can not control it. It is best to learn on a slower car and get the hang of it. You will know when it is time to move on. For now have fun with it and burn some nitro!

Heh, yeah, now that I have 2 vehicles, I'm going through fuel like there's no tomorrow.
I burned a gallon last weekend and am about halfway through another gallon right now.
I'll be heading out to the track in about an hour. I'm lucky cause one of my LHS has an off road and on road track. While one car is cooling off, I can race the other one. I try to keep at least 1 nitro engine running at all times. Theraputic, I think.

:spit: That's the spirit of racing I do the same & when I get tried of the fumes I whip out the electric

I can't lie I had one , It was my first car nitro car. I loved it . A great tool to learn on . Did so many mods to it -pro 15 to a rb 21 to a novarossi 12 . Its really a great car if its ur first or just wanting to bash

Well, it seems that tires are going to be an issue. Gonna have to experiment to find the best traction. I got some foams but they dont seem to stick to the track too well. I picked up a pair of X pattern rubber tires and they stick better but they seem too skinny.

A good body also seems critical to the handling, especially at high speeds. Going to look into something with more downforce like maybe one of those cool Lola bodys.

These are just a couple of things I noticed. None of this stuff is an issue with my T-Maxx so I'm kinda learning as I go.

I have foams and they stick like glue. You have to play around and figure out which foam set up is good for your surface (shore rating front and rear). Also remember that foams need a different suspension setup (caster, camber, toe) from rubber tires.

Shock preload and oil weight; spring stiffness; droop ... they all have a part with traction.

Just trying to offer some advice here as I have been down a similar road that it seems your are about to follow. I had a beginer car, I spent almost $300 on the car RTR and I spent anothe $1000 trying to make it as fast and handle as good as a $400 NTC3. It still was never that caliber of a car, sure it was a great car and I had fun and learned so much but if I had it to do over again I would have rocked it stock with very few upgrades and then spent the money on a race ready car.

A race kit is anywhere from $350-$600 and you can see I well surpassed that trying to get and enty level car to be a compitition car. My advice is to have fun with your 4-tec, they are known to be fast and to handle corners poorly so no mater how much money you really spend on it that will be it's weakness. Start looking at cars like the Trinity Reflex, Mugen MTX-3 and HPI R-40, and Serpents look at the design and layout. you will find them all to be very close in design. Low center of gravity, weight distributed as even as you can get it. They are very light weight and very adjustable right out of the box. You should be seeing better traction with foams as someone else already stated so that would be my first clue.

Yeah, A "friend" of mine, (yeah right) sold me a pair that don't stick to well either.

U pertty much sumed it up! I thought it was my driving that could not get the car around the corner ! lol, Just thinking about all the time a money that I put in mine is pertty scary ! alum parts that really didnt work. but looked good. The carbon fiber parts ! Atleast I can say that I had one of the badest 4-tec out there. I will see if I can find some pic of it. I ended up puting the stock pro 15 back in and giving it a way at my local track to a young kid. His father didnt have enough money to get his son one at the time, and he traded some brand new 26,30 foam tires that I could use ! Now his son saved up and got a reflex and he inturned gave the car to some other person who did not have a car. I seen the car go tru 4 diffrent owners. It funny seeing something that You really put some time and effort into plus alot of money being used by someone else. But it feels even better that you helped someone else get into the sport! not the least to say hey -that used to be my car!
