 i've got power to the front diff, and it looks like the axle to the rear end is spinning, but the rear tires will not pull. if i lift the truck up the rear tires will spin, but not when it's on the ground. what's up can ay one help please

check your wheel hexes first.. put front tires on the ground, hold one back tire and try to turn the other.. see if it will turn.. if it does its prolly the hex.. if not try to turn both back wheels the same way.. if they turn without the front pulling it may be the diff or the shaft.. look closely at the ends of the shaft to make sure that both "parts" are spinning (the ball and cup)..

Start with the easy stuff first. Check the yoke screw that holds the driveshaft cup to the gear. If this screw comes out the drive shaft and cup will spin but will not turn the pinion gear. Lift the rear of the truck off the ground, leave the front on the ground, turn one rear wheel, the other one should turn the oposite direction. If this does not happen your rear diff is most likely damaged. I have had diff problems with my SS since tank 10. If you do take it apart I would highly recommend doing the four spider mod while you are in there.

Also as beason mentioned, check your wheel hexes, I stripped both of my original rear wheels rather quickly, this could also be the problem.

i have the 23mm hex on the truck so they look fine, took my diff apart and there were some ( or lot) of metal shavings in the diff, so i think that's were my problem is. which replacment should i buy and what up grades do yo recomend

besides the diff gears, check your ring and pinion. After I upgraded to the 4 gear set, I blew my pinion gear. Hotbodies cvd's, MIP center drives, dual disk brakes, 4 gear diff set,......oh yeah....and a Collari .30. That's about all the upgrades you should need.
