hi, id go with the redcat one as i have only heard of them and it has an infinity engine which i have and it has NEVER let me down :)

You shouldn't go with any of those, unless your budget is very strict. You'd do much better off saving and buying a slightly more expensive car, but you'll get MUCH better quality.

All of those use very cheap plastic parts, and the engines (at least in my experience) are crap. You'd do much better saving up an extra $120 and buying a T-Maxx 2.5, which is one of the most supported and supplied trucks in the world. If you need a hop-up or replacement part, there is guaranteed to be one on pretty much any major supplier.

Honestly, you'd probably spend more on parts in the first month than if you had just bought the Maxx straight off.

I agree completely. My son decided last summer he was going to buy a redcat tornado. Big mistake. It cost way more to maintain than if he had purchased a real RC. He raced Revo this winter and will be racing a Jammin this spring and the redcat does nothing but sit in the garage. A complete waste of money. Point is; these off-brand nitros don't save you any money.

Just my .02

I'll buy a used outdated Jammin, Mugen, Losi, Associated anyday of the week before i buy an off brand. Redcat and the rest of the budget companies have yet to prove themselves.

just bought my first truck himoto viper xst, and i wsh i would of talked to somebody first, i woudnt buy any of those , can't find parts but on the internet, takes awhile for shipping, still waiting for parts spend a little more and buy traxxax, revo, something like that

I have got a great suggestion: For the price of the Exceed RC Infinity you can get a Losi Aftershock! They are a little bigger at 1/8 scale and have top notch radios. Losi rigs are as close to race ready as you can get in a Monster Truck.

if i was forced to pic one of these trucks i would go for the Red Cat. But IMO go to the for sale forum and find a used t-maxx on there. In this hobby quality is everything. I noticed that on all of those trucks you chose they use a .18 or .15 vertex engine. This engine is used for almost all sub-par RC's. Dont get me wrong,,,,, i own a .18 vertex, it came with my first ever nitro, a Speedmaster VH-X5. I crashed it one time and the cost to fix it exceeded the price of the entire car. Whatever you decide,,,, have fun..... (This is only "My opinion")

Yeah I agree with most of these guys. Grab a used vehicle for cheap. If you can hold out a few days.....I'll be posting some for sale soon ;-) Not sure what you're looking for...but my "Garage Sale" will have a few of each when I finally get around to posting it. hehehe

biggest engine

so whats the biggest engine that I can put in a 1/8th scale buggy? and what engine do you suggest for the buck?

Yeah I am new to this also and I looked at the cheaper ones too. Spend the extra money and get a T-maxx. YOU WILL crash it. I know and I have. Everyone sells replacement parts for it, and they are fairly cheap. No matter what you get, GET A FAILSAFE!! You can save more money overall by spending extra money up front.
