:DThe Traxxas Jato is a very fast 2 wheel drive Nitro! Why pay $471.95?
JATO 3.3 W/ 2.4GHZ RADIO
Not completely sure what you want other than an on/off road Nitro....sounds like a Nitro Truggy is in order, Ya after a 2X4 or a 4X4..??

Thanks! I'm basically after the very best and fastest on/off road RC, what would you suggest?

you want the fastest onroad and offroad
well the jato is 2ww and onroad thats pretty much it
for offroad i would go 4wd stampede or slash which will do both your needs and they are fast also

While fast is cool, it's also the quickest way to break stuff. Trucks like the Jato and the Speed-NT will do 60+ mph, but that's straight line runs, if you turn, you wreck.

Best suggestion, look at something like a Savage, Revo, T-Maxx, Stampede, etc. They are all more durable, and anything can be made to go faster.

we need to know what exacly you want to do with this rc. are you running on a track, street, the yard? jumps, speed runs, agility? what is your budget? do you have any prior experience?

Does anyone know anything about Nitro RC Cars? Looking to get a top of the line on and off road RC... any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! One site suggested this? http://www.hobbytron.com/TraxxasJato33NitroRCStadiumTruck.html?AID=10117481&PID=2115483

Welcome to RCNitroTalk!

Other than fast what you are looking for in an R/C? Where do plan on running the car or truck at and do you plan on doing racing or just bashing? Are you wanting a car, buggy, truck?

Give us more information and we'll be glad to help you as best we can, else you're going to get answers from all ends of the spectrum.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the helpful feedback... hopefully the info helps belo!

  • I'm from Australia :-)
  • I am not worried about the cost, I want a quality car
  • I want to ride it on roads, over grass and dirt
  • It's not crucial but a car that I could constantly be working on would be good, tweaks things as I go etc
  • I like the look of a buggy over a truck!
  • I want to bash a bit, but do want something pretty fast

I hope that's enough!

PS I love the look of this car, but have only seen a few so far... http://www.traxxas.com/products/models/nitro/5507jato33

You might want to look at a truggy. Truggies are a hybrid of a truck wheel and a buggy looks. They have a bit higher ground clearance because they run a taller wheel and tire. They also have a bigger motor and every bit as fast as a buggy. They are great in short grass (about 9 cm or shorter) and on road. If want a to run in anything deeper try a monster truck like the HPI Savage.

This is supposed to be a decent truggy:

Tower does ship outside of the US.

You seem pretty dead set on the jato. Most of your posts are about it. Go ahead and get it. Its a decent rig.

Its not worthless offroad on dirt and short grass with decent tires.

Hi guys... I'm not totally set on the Traxxas but it's really the only reputable brand I have seen... can anyone give me some other options for a Truggy as I would really be interested!

Hey guys... thanks for all the great replies, so many cars to think about! I had another question, obviously this is a Nitro forum but I thought some of you might give some good points on this. A few other people say Nitro is messy and loud and it's better to go with a brushless motor, as it's quieter and you can get similar speeds, I wondered if anyone had thoughts on this?
