Well my wife is officially annoyed with me. After buying my first real rc car (Ofna Ultra LX2), I seem to have this desire to buy more so I decided I want to order a monster truck. I looked at the T-maxx 2.5 and the Kyosho Mad Force. I think the Kyosho is awesome, I love the solid axles.

Still a newb, but now I have Nitro fever.

I created this thread to see what people are into, projects etc, in the world of nitro cars. For some reason I have been sucked in, and was curious what made other people get sucked in too.

LOL My bashing buddy's wife get's annoyed with him too... He's always ordering upgrade part's from towerhobbies.. He just told me Firday he orderd a E-Revo but hasent worked up the nerve to tell her he orderd it.. So I know how you feel... But glad your enjoying the Hobby..

I will check them out, I looked at the Bullet ST and Bullet MT i couldn't find many replacement parts for them though.

Yea not too many parts for them I have Both Bullet's in Nitro & Electric.. & for right now have some stock parts on hand i orderd from towerhobbies "that are most prone to brakeage"... The electric Bullet MT Flux just came out with some pinion gears "that I seen from HPI.com" Also the Nitro Bullet MT has a Clutch availabe & a different brake pad also that I seen from HPI.com

But Notta thing from
RPM = MIP = Pro-Line = Integy "witch I know integy is junk but was seeing if thay had anything out for the Rig yet" But the Truck is fun as heck to bash & one of my favorite Rig to bash with next to my T-MAXX.

Not sure what your budget is, but take a look at the Losi LST XXL.

I am diggin the Losi LST XXL, for some reason I think if I spent that much I would feel guilty about breaking it. I was looking to get something like these, something around 400.

if you wanna spend $400 maybe look at the 1/16 e-revo..... i have a 1/10 revo which is pretty modded from factory and its good fun but I'm scared of taking it out now since i put a BB motor in it. i bought a 1/16 brushless e-revo last week and hoping it turns up in the next 2-3 days and from what iv heard there mad for a basher/muck around car.

one thing to remember tho is with small scales cars you have to scale down the surface your running on....

Wife will get over it (and too bad if she don't!). Tell her you are wasting a lot of time on nitros when you could be hanging out in the bars.
I got the bug when a buddy of mine gave me a Kyosho V-one-R to put together about a year ago. I now have a bunch of cars and trucks and who know what tomorrow. Yesterday I put a Sirio 27 Monster big block in my XTM buggy and created a monster! I have a savage on my work bench, torn apart , rebuilding the differential gears.(making them stronger because I'm about to put a Kyosho .28 engine in it). I need to rebuild one of the shocks on my Revo. I usually spend most of my free time thinking and working on nitros.

Kyosho makes nice stuff but parts are very expensive. This Savage suspension is built like a tank and parts on Ebay cost about the same as dirt. I have a 3.3 Revo and it broke the first time out bashing on a dirt track. I think if I was going to buy something new, it would be a Savage. It's the same price as the Kyosho and probably built a whole lot stronger. I have been told you can bash a Savage all day long and most likely won't break anything.

I own a XXL and its predecessor the LST2....I break the crap out of them and I never feel the least bit guilty! replacement parts arent anymore expensive than anything else once you get the kit :)

That is good to know about parts, but personally I don't think I need anything quite that large or powerful, after all it will be my second hobby grade rc car, although technically I still have no cars because I am still waiting on my Ofna to get here. I think something like the T-maxx 2.5 or the Team Associated truck would be a good fit for me. I am still learning, maybe in a year or so I will step up to larger more powerful trucks, and feel less guilty about trying to break them. I am partial to the Kyosho mostly because of the solid axles and I think the all round looks are better than the others, but that is just my opinion.

From what I've heard, the Aftershock is a pretty solid truck. It's the same setup as the XXL, the key differences are a shorter chassis, smaller engine, no reverse and a different Trx/Rx. It is a great way to get a foot in the door with the LST line, you can always get the XXL parts from the chopshops on Ebay and their prices are really cheap. I recommend getting the New Era roll bar if your even slightly serious about the Aftershock, it is a great upgrade that will transfer over if you decide to do the XXL conversion, they just came back in stock and usually sell out pretty quick.

Thanks for the info, do you know if they make aluminum shock towers for them or is it necessary to even bother changing them?

Here are some good prices on the LST XXL, and the Aftershock, just add them to the cart to see the price. I haven't run a Savage, but I have heard great things about them, for the price maybe someone could give info about the Aftershock compared to the 4.6 that's in your link.

Oh, and I've never broken a shock tower, or arm on my XXL.......I've broken damn near everything else though. All my fault though lol.

I am going to wait to order until I get my other car, just thought I would do a little research and see what people were running in the monster truck department I definitely like the aftershock pretty cheap too price isn't really the issue, but I don't really want to spend a bunch on my first monster truck since I am still learning, and if I go out and by the best what do I have to look forward too you know, that would be like buying a 16yr old a lambo and teaching them to drive. I bought the ofna because I got a good deal and people told me they were tough and thats what I am looking for in a monster truck. But I have a feeling the Wifey-Pooh will not enjoy my new found hobby......

The Aftershock isnt bad for the money. Its a budget friendly version of the LST2 which is the model that was out before the XXL.

They do make aluminum shock bodies and caps for them. If you get the ones from the LST2 they are threaded body which is nice That is what I have on my XXL. Theyre kind of hard to see because of the big yellow springs I have on them but you can see them in this pic. I ended up replaceing the front arms with RPMs cuz I kept breaking them from not landing jumps right but I dont believe I've broken anything else except a bumper and a couple of tierods.

Heres a little bashing vid although I was kind of babying it as I had just finished breaking in my nitro engine on it.

They also make other types of aluminum shocks like the ones I have on my LST2 Electric conversion
