Finaly did it, bought stuff to make a nitro 1/18

Finaly did it, bought stuff 4 nitro 1/18 scale, here is what i purchased from tower:

Hayes Motor Mount Norvel NV-06 .061 ($2.89)
Hayes Regular Fuel tank 2 oz. ($4.09)
APC 5.7x3 .049 Free Flight <---a propeller 4 break-in ($1.75)
Great Planes Ultra Precision Fuel Filter ($2.99)
AP Engines Wasp .061 R/C ($39.99)
AP Engines Glow Plug AP.061 Wasp ($4.79)
Standard Shipping ($3.99)

Total: $60.49

Hopefully this will get me going. I plan to ghetto-rig a fly-wheel to the motor and add a clutch bell and shoes from the rc 10t i think it was. hopefull it will come to gether. I plan to put this in to an rc 18t rtr because to the 4 wheel drive an because it is made by associated. ...give me your thoughts

Hopefully you have access to a good ghetto machine shop, because an out of balance flywheel will tear things up pretty quick. Buy a flywheel, ghetto rig all the rest.
Good luck with the project.

If it works, let us know how we can do it!

I've only seen one movie where someone took a little norvel engine and put it into a mini-t. It was pretty cool and fast. But appeared to be rather undependable.

thanks guys,...what i meant by "ghetto rig" was that is was going to put a fly wheel from another rc onto it (pre drilled holes, ect.)

sry was to vague w/e thanks ne way!

I thought your going to like chop a flywheel. Good luck and keep us informed.

You want info, I have some for you. Try reading the Rules

Here, this is the portion that pertains to you, just in case you miss it...

NO crossposting - Do not post the same topic in more than one location

How's that for information?

If you're going to stick that into an RC18T, I have the following suggestions:

Use a nice rigid carbon chassis like the Holeshot Engineering chassis.
Get stainless steel or Titanium outdrives and MIP CVDs - the standard plastic outdrives will fail. Also the standard stub axles are weak, MIP CVDs are much better.
Shim the diffs as the shaft pinion and diff spurs have a tendancy to slip
FT threaded shocks, FT Billet shock towers and suspension (A) arms will give it the extra rigidty, or if you want to widen the track, this little conversion is what you need
A nice buggy body kit from Bartos Racing Products would compliment the entire project nicely too :)

damn i can't wait to see how this turns out, get pics as soon as possible!!

good luck,
gus

Hey Ice, All i got to say is...Good Luck! and keep us posted on how things are going.

DUDE THIS WILL BE SCHWEET!!!!! I am thinking about getting into the 1/18 scene but was going to easy way with a mamba 8000 brushless and LiPos the nitro will be awesome tho it will definetely be a one-of-a-kind toy that you will be able to take a lot of pride out of
