Will my Mamba Max Motor/ESC combo handle A 2s-3s 4800-5000mahp lipo battery? The Guy at my local hobby shop didn't seem to think so? I want something better than the 3&4 cell Nickles I'm running but don't wanna burn anything up. Thanks in Advance, Brandon

P.S I'm way new to electric trucks, don't shun me to bad! Lol

yep the mamba will handle 2 and 3s just fine. It is rated for up to 3s....I run 4s on my mamba on my crawler even...Not that I'm saying to do it. Make sure you set your lipo cutoff, or put it on auto lipo.

What kind of power increase do they have over a 3 or 4 cell nickle battery? And what's the life span between charges if balanced every charge?

A 3s lipo (11.1v) compared to a stick pack is like a 3 cylinder metro compared to a Lambo. ;)

Very nice! I will look and see which motor I have, but I thought it was the ESC that dictated the power of the battery limit? So where is the best place to get a few lipos and a charger?

Ok, I have the 5700kv motor, with the Mamba Max ESC. I'm thinking of upgrading the motor to a 9000kv motor with the 3s 11.1v battery! :) If you guys know of a place to get Lipos for a decent price I'm gonna by a charger and probably 3 batteries?

When you start adding voltage you need to lower the KV on the motor...your going to have heat isseues with the 5700 on 3s, you will flat out fry things with the 9000kv motor. Did you clink on the link I put in post #4?

As Schultz would say, "I see nothing, I hear nothing"

Agreed though with Smaxxin. If you wanna stick with Castle on 3s and wanna get a new motor, go down to maybe a 4600. You can change the gearing if need be to help it run cooler after that.

Thats strange, I just clicked on it...I'll try again

In case it's still not working....CC will only recommend a mamba esc with a 4600kv on 2s geared 14/90 for a 2wd slash, or a mamba with 5700kv on 2s geared 12/90 on the 2wd slash

The only system they recommend for the 4wd slash is the 1/8 2650kv on 2 or 3s. The sidwinder esc's are not recomended for SC trucks at all.

Did I read that link right SNG? Their only $39 ? Yes Maxxin I did click on the link, thanks I see that they reccomend a 2s-3s, 3s being Max. Ok with that being said about the motors.... will I be Ok with my 5700 with a 3s ? I run it for bout 30-40min tops, then lets it sit and cool off for bout 20-30minutes before driving it again?

Ok, thanks Smaxxin!! I have mine geared 12/90, why do they only recommend a 2s? I was thinking of buying 1-3s and 2-2s the 3s only run once in a while? Will I burn up stuff doing short runs on the 3s?

the 5700 would heat up fast for sure. i dont want to recomend anything that goes against what castle says though. But 3s compared to 2s is night and day. 2s is lame in my opinion. If you can afford it, just try to get a different motor. Id go with a traxxas vxl motor. Thats what I used to run in one of my 2wd's and a 4600kv castle in the other on 3s, wich ran pretty cool but not as cool as the vxl.

When you say heat up fast on a 3s? How fast we talking? 20minutes? 5? Lol If i could run a 3s for 30minutes I'd be happy! Lol

Slowngreen, have you bought from Hobby King before? There prices seem to good to be true? And how well do the Turnigy batteries work?

I have turnigy batts from hobby king the 3s 3000mah 30c and there pretty nice for the money but I'm running 3300kv and it almost too fast to handle! :)
