Newbie Looking For Help. Thanks

I own a revo and a savage. Savage over revo I was constantly break parts on my revo and the trx 2.5 that thing is so hard to keep from overheating. Out of the box you'd be happy with a savage as I haven't replaced anything other than what I want to replace.
 
Ya won't piss this Savage owner off. I love mine. All the vehicles are going to need worked on. Some people don't like the TVP's on the Savage. Think they are a pain to work on. I thought so when I first got it. Now I don't mind it. Ya get used to it.
All the RTR's have little things that need upgraded. Thing I like about them is I can play and upgrade as I can afford it. Savage doesn't have much brakes. The stock pipe sux.
I have had mine for a year.
Front diff, pipe, dual disc brake and a couple of one way bearings is all I can think of. I don't bash as hard as some of the guys here. My vote is the Savage.
You will also need the battery for the rotostart and a charger for it.
I drive about an hour and a half to get fuel. Hobby shop in town charges $35 a gallon. About $22 where I go. :cheers:

If you can keep that much fuel around, out of sunlight and heat, then good luck. I would never buy that much fuel at one time, because i could not use that much in under a year... Fuel does go bad...

4u2nv - Thanks for letting me know that it is pretty safe to deal here on the forum, I figured it was, just from you all that have responde to me and been helping me! I do wish I could sell 1 Item I have, it would give me a little extra money to play with :-). I have a Brand New, Still Sealed Traxxas Electric Rustler in the Box, Never Opened. I quess I will try to sell it on Ebay. Thanks

olds97_lss - Thanks for all the Info on the Fuel, and about how long a Qt. would last. And Reaffirming your stance on the Savage. Like I said I am going to be Brand New at this Hobby, am I going to have a Hard Time Learning how to Work on, and Repair Everything? I have Never done any of that, but I want to Learn? Thanks

digger - What is the TVP? You say they are a Pain to work on? I already have a couple of Batteries (Like the ones that would go int the Traxxas Electric's), will those work?

.21Rc10GT - Since I would have to drive about an Hour and a Half to get Fuel, how much would you suggest buying at one time?

Has Anyone seen any good Deals I should be looking at for a Savage on Ebay, or anywhere else? If so please let me know. Thanks Everyone!!!
 
one thing about the traxxas stuff that i forgot in my earlier suggestions is the engines. with the trx engines you either get a good engine that hardly ever needs touched, or you get a total POS that is impossible to keep tuned and almost always runs hot.

I've always had different engines on my maxxes so i've not been as upset with them.

i still say try and find a good sportmaxx :)

Does the Savage come with Reverse? You have to purchase the module and addtional servo and linkages for it.

digger - What is the TVP? You say they are a Pain to work on?
They are Twin Vertical Plates. They keep everything together. ANd Yes they can be a pain but not impossible. Definitley different from the Pan style chassis or Maxx styles ones.

Has Anyone seen any good Deals I should be looking at for a Savage?

Gotta keep checking . If anyone sees a deal its usually posted to help any that are looking.

once you find one and get it, you will understand more about what everyone is talking about. When i started i didnt quite understand untill i strated playing with it and reading the forums. it takes time to gain all the knowledge and understand it but it is well worth it. My first was a tmaxx and i loved it plus the dvd was a little help, learning how to adust and fine tune everything.

chewboy, do you think I would like a Traxxas SportMaxx, or what about a Rustler, or Shampede? Thanks
 
matrix, I'll cast a vote on the Savage as well....it's a tough truck...I like the T-maxx more cause IMO it handles better on the ground....the savage is definately a better airborn truck....I built a T-maxx from all after market parts after having issues w/ some stock ones and I loved it...I spent less than 1grand, I don't know what you guys added to yours for a grand that you didn't like but mine wails ass on most other MTs....I am currently selling it though cause I got into buggies nad they are just WAY more fun to run on a track.....and that's about the only place I run anymore....had a savage for a very breif time....great truck definately more durable than a stock T-maxx...it's just not that great for race style driving......the geometry of the 2 trucks are totally different.....both have pros and cons...for a beginner I'd say the savage will be your least troubles of them all.....good luck and read a lot before throwing screws around....

I'm fairly new to the world of RC trucks myself and so far am only running Stadium Trucks. But from what I have read on this site in the past 4 months that I have been here, I would go for the Savage if I were to get a MT. While you will run across a few negative post about them, I will have to say the positive post far out weigh the negative. So my vote would be the Savage 100%.
