Newbie Left Fuel in Motor

well, being new and not knowing any better, i left fuel in my tank and engine. sure enough, 2 days later(today), when i went to start it up, not a chance. so what do i need to do to get my car running again?..what should i clean with? what parts should i clean? i have the carb and backplate off my motor right now, so lemme know what i need to do. thanks

Leaving fuel in your rig for 2 days will not do any harm. 2 weeks maybe but not 2 days. Make sure your glow heater is fully charged and make sure your glow plug glows nice and bright.

what he said. I would also put some ARO on the parts and turn the flywheel coating the parts in the engine. you should be fine. just put it back together and turn the engine over a few times.

Chances are, it's not running because your plug is fouled. Two days of fuel in the tank won't do much, if anything, to the engine but it may be enough to gum your plug up enough. May try a fresh plug.

yea two days wony hurt it... I dont recomend this but I just fixed my buggy and looked in side the gas tank and noticed that there was still fuel in it from last year. I poured all the old fuel out and then added new fuel and also poured that out. ( sort of like washing the tank out) and my motor started right up

I have left fuel in a tank for over a month and it was fine.....not saying do it on the regular but it's not the be all end all for the mill....

I agree with the others. I never run my engines dry, but I do use ARO after every bash session. I've blown too many plugs letting them run bone dry... It just isn't worth $6 for me to run it dry.

It sounds like maybe the plug is fouled or your heater is dead.

thanks for the help. i had it running on sunday, and got about halfway through breakin when i had to go out of town. when i got back it wouldnt start...i know the glow heater is good, i left it plugged in while i was gone for 2 days. i took the motor all apart and resealed everything and lubed everything with ARO so tomorrow when the silicone is dry ill try it. i have a new plug too so ill try that as well. the plug looks good, glows bright, but my only concern is before i left, i was running it up and down the driveway for break in and it died, either too rich or too lean, I'm not sure, i filled the tank up and tried to start it again, but it wouldnt start. so i left it while i was gone, came back, still wont start. like i said, the glow plug seems to glow well, but ill try it anyway. well, thats the whole story of how it happened so maybe that will help
