I just put my deposit down on a new XB8 and should have it in two weeks. I have a few questions on the build. Yes, I did search first. Did you guys add the small O-rings behind the spider gears in the front and center diffs? Also did you use both O-rings on the inside and outside of the diff where the outdrive is? I've heard the build is pretty easy and looking at the manual it looks nice. Any other thing I should know about the build? For those of you that already have an XB8, do you use the new longer softer A-arms. Any upgrade parts that are a must? Oh yeah, anyone want a Mayhem Pro rolling chassis? I know of one that will be available in two weeks :devious:

Yea how much for the roller?

I hear the XB8 is a very nice buggy, good luck with it.

I too should have my new xb8 here next week. So I can give you some hints next week as to how the build goes. I will only be running the soft arms for larger races and when the track is blown out or really rough. Just a tuning option. The soft arms wear to fast for me to club race with.

You do not use the orings behind the spider gears, and I don't know the answer to your question about the orgins on the outdrives.

Thanks! The guy at the LHS is sponsored by Xray and was confusing me on which O-rings to use. He was saying to only use the inside O-ring on the Outdrives and to use the ones inside the diffs. I don't know, from what I've heard his car handles very well on our track. I will be buying the new motor mount along with the optional steering plate and longer arms.

don't use the o-rings at the spider gears at all !
o-rings at outdrives is a must , it's the seal to keep in the oil

soft arms, new motormount, 3d steering plate, front torquerod in option

building : everything goes together like oiled !
I would put the upper suspensionrods at the extreme ends front and rear
diff 5000/7000/2500 or 5000/5000/2500
rear antirollbar 2.4 mm
white springs

this setup should get you going in a hurry. i run mine very close to this, i think my roll centers are lower and i run 45wt oil in front with 40-35 in the back, and i run the "0" caster bushings. I've been running a 100% stock xb8 since last sept and love it just the way it is. the only upgrade id recommend right away is the motor mount. beyond that, drive the car, and then decide if it needs anything. also the soft arms require a slightly stiffer suspension, so keep that in mind if you decide to use them. no o-rings behind the spider gears, but you must use the outdrive o-rings.

Found some on Ebay for around $600. I'm getting mine at my LHS for $629. A little more and I'll have to pay tax, but I'd like to help out the store. The owners a really nice guy and has the only 1:8 scale track around.

It would end up being close to that with shipping anyways, and sometimes you just want to pick something up at a store instead of waiting for a package that always shows up when you're not home.

front brace, I use the harder plastic arms....they take SOOOO much abuse it's not even funny...just keep a few front lower arms in your pit box...that's really the only thing I've broken on it.......the diff O-rings are a special Xray size...I use em and lay a littel grease under the washer over the ring behind the bevel gears.....how do you put an O-ring behind the spider gears?.......haven't done the engine mount yet, but plan to....and the king headz front end brace might be coming along soon too but mostly because I'm just too lazy to sand and seal the CF one that the buggy comes w/
