I recommend a set of proline suburbs on j concept +3mm offset wheels. And do all you can to dial in as much rear traction as possible. There is many changes you can make without any new parts, like stand up the rear shock, run 2.5 degree rear toe(whice also increases wheel base), 1 degree antisquat, and raise the camber link one spacer.
If you find yourself traction rolling.... lower the front till it stops and lower the rear for a little droop or below level with the front.

I can promise the suburbs WILL NOT work on the track he is racing on. he has the correct tires, now his setup is his focus point i think.

From my reading, stiffening the rear by standing the shocks up will make the rear more loose, which is the issue I have now. Am I misunderstanding something? I have the 3.5deg FT arm mounts, 2deg anti squat block, and 2deg of rear camber now. Running the #1 piston, 30wt oil, green springs, and arms level. Haven't checked ride height yet, and haven't moved the camber links at all.

straighter the shocks the looser the truck, hands down, it will handle large jumps better but takes away from handling, lay the shocks down if you dont have any large jumps.

That's exactly what I thought, thanks Patrick. I think ditching the sway bar, and drilling the 4th inward top hole (FT trick) on the rear, and new tires, along with my new radio with a bit of throttle curve tweaks will have me dialed Sunday.

laying the shocks down will act like a sway bar, add that to a sway bar and the rear will not have any rear side bite at all. Laying a shock down makes that end of a car more forgiving and less responsive, where standing a shock will be more responsive and less forgiving. spinning out is not responsive.

^^Gotcha, after some further reading it seems standing the shocks up helps straight line traction, but hurts cornering traction.

Did some work on the truck tonight actually.

Finally got some SAE tools so I could tear into it :D

I absolutely hate the grease they put in RTR diffs, it's nasty stuff IMO

Got it all cleaned up, and filled with 5K fluid

The factory rear shock mounts only have three holes

I had read of team drivers drilling a fourth inboard rear upper shock mount hole, so I went ahead and drilled mine also. Measure twice, drill once...

Mine doesn't seem to have the issue many do to be honest, I tightened it up a bit and you won't break it loose by hand and it has almost no slop in the saver now. An alloy bellcrank setup is next.

Put the truck on the podium today by winning my first race. The suspension changes and tires made a big difference, but the radio helped a ton also. I turned my punch control back up on the ESC, and ran some expo on the throttle ch. That way I can clear the big double that's right in a corner, but still have soft throttle control in the really dry loose stuff. Thanks for all the help guys. Points series starts soon, I can't wait!!

Thanks guys, we had a blast yesterday, there were some really good tight races and that always makes it fun. No worries Patrick, we all have lives of our own to tend to, I'm still going to come out one weekend to run at GAH.

the points series starts up there tonight, since we moved our softball practices to Mondays, i wont get to participate in those either, Thinkning of selling my tekno 4wd to build a trail truck.

Why Mondays? That makes about as much sense as a football bat.
