been out of rc for 30 years, a lot of new tech stuff :whhooo: I remember you had to cycle batteries to keep them from building up a short memory . All these new lipo batteries is that still done ? they say don't drain them down below a certain point. how often should they be charged ? Every time you use them? how do you tell when they are getting low? any info at this point helps. back to flying and ground so all kinds of batteries.

Charge them after use. With a LiPo specific balance charger. Make sure your ESC has low voltage detection, that is programmed into the esc so that when your battery drops below a certain voltage you don't destroy your battery. You know this happens when the car slows down drastically

you don't need to cycle lipo batteries like you did with the older tech. Lipos do a great job holding a charge, so if you charge them on Wed going to the track on Saturday should be ok:) The big thing with lipo batteries like you already mentioned is over-charging and over-discharging, danger danger. Most newer esc have a low voltage detection, you can pick up cheap external alarms for older units. Only use lipo specific chargers for charging. Also if there is a long period of time between runs--like several weeks to several months-- put them on a storage charge, most Lipo chargers have a storage feature. Lipo tech is amazing and really has brought back a lot of interest into the hobby again...
