is the leaning problem still an issue with the new savage tanks or is this still a problem? I have not seen much on this lately and was wondering if it was still a problem?
thanks

The new kit uses same tank as the older kits, part # 87149.

but didn't the old kits have a primer do the new kits not come with a primerless tank? so this means I am going to have to do the mod to the fuel tubing to like 28inches and that other thing to keep the tank from leaning as it uses fuel?
I have the new 4.6ss kit in the mail

I believe its the good tank that it comes with, the older SS kit tank was up graded and the tanks problem was fixed, i i dont think i have to worry about it. I may be wrong but I'm almost 100% posative.

HPI no longer puts the primer tank on any kits. They all use the non primer tank, which is better than the old one. I have not had problems but I have heard of others who had.

so the primer was the reason that there was a leaning issue? or did it have to do with how the fuel is picked up or how the air is pressurised in the tank delivering the fuel?

The primer is a good candidate for air leaks. The tank is pressurized by the pressure line coming from the exhaust pipe.

Unfortunately you are wrong. The primerless tank will self lean because it is a big tank.

I have read this thread, so I will need to do this so that leaning is not an issue

The new kit has the same 160cc primerless tank. I would run the truck as is first (without any tank mods) to see if you experience the problem. It is possible that your motors state of tune combined with your ambient conditions might lead to a situation where the self-leaning issue might not be a problem for you. Start by tuning the truck with the stock tank and see what happens as you gain experience with the rig. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

would shorteining the fuel likes to both the carb and the exhaust pressure line help increase pressure in the tank? Also is this a problem in the savage RTR? If its not having tank troubles then id jsut buy a rtr tank. Idk I'm probably all wrong here.

Any savage tank that is designed to fit the savage that is stock on any version of savage is built weird by design. The design is what causes the leaning. The shape of the tank causes the pressure to weaken as the tank empties. The primer'd tanks are just more prone to air leaks due to the primer mechanism.

This is just from what I've read. I ran a stock tank for about 2 tanks and replaced it with a 125cc buggy tank. Mine leaned out pretty badly as soon as it hit half tank. It would go from blubbery rich running at 190 to screaming hot at 300 as it emptied.
