Check out this new woven graphite upper deck HPI just came out with for the RS4 3 and SS.

Stiffen the chassis of your Nitro 3 Type SS or RTR 3 with this woven graphite Upper Deck! All the hardware you need to convert the car is included, as well as servo mounts and purple anodized aluminum posts. Get a lower center of gravity when using flat battery packs as well!

#73056 Upper Deck (Woven Graphite/Nitro 3) 38.00

007Kel has one installed on his RS4 3 as well as a carbon fiber shock tower brace for the front and rear. Nice looking stuff.

Oh man Carbon give me a headache just looking at it.. Ohh the glitchin woos... I have a r/c hold the carbon please...X

This guy explained it better than I can... This is from a post here http://www.rcuniverse.com/rcarchive/23/2002/10/4/72319

It was I that mentioned CF frames can induce RF noise.

Since CF can be made many ways, some CF frames can conduct low voltage and when it delineates from itself (it does happen quite a bit) and the layers vibrate- it can produce spurious RF output....you can add thin CA to the entire perimeter of a CF frame and this usually prevents splintering/deliniation.

Many top R/C car racers that race cars that use CF frames do this exact step to aid in keeping the intergrity of the CF edges..they also double-side tape mount everything as they also know CF can induce glitching (RF noise).

Years ago when I owned a MA Gas Xcell- it came with graphite (CF) frames and there was slight layer seperation (delineation) and I had to use microfarad .01 capacitors to keep the RF noise from traveling down the rudder servos wiring. The RF noise was being generated from the vibration of the CF frames- once the capacitor was installed- the glitching stopped (Radio Shack .15 cents!)

That is just one little tidbit do a search on google for glitching carbon fiber and Rc or rf interferance and carbon fiber there is plenty of info out there. It also gets worse with electrics because it can cause the motor to glitch like a kid having a seisure...X

Thanks for that info X, I never knew that obout CF.

Is there a difference between carbon fiber and graphite? Do they both cause interference?

Graphite causes GF more than standard Plastics but not near as bad as CF.. Graphite is just a lighter compoiste that resembles plastic much more than it does Carbon Fiber.. CF is like Fiber glass its made from sheets of cloth that are coated with a resign were as Graphite is made in injection molds like plastic parts..X

So then what is woven graphite? This upper chassis says it is woven graphite, not CF, but it does not look like injection molding, but more like CF.....I'm sooo confused

Are you guys sure that the upper deck kit can fit the RTR version (rs4 rtr3)??? And hey...do you need the flat five pack?? or will the stock one fit?

I know it is made specifically for the RTR 3 and the SS. I don't know if you can still use the stock battery holder or if you must go with a pack with this set up.
