Nothing official from Rlaarlo, but since they sent out the first update to everyone who ordered one on the "To" line (instead of "BCC"), some of the other people who ordered have done "Reply All" messages to voice their opinions (five messages today). I did like this reply (excerpted and name withheld):

"Personally, I’d rather have that transparency than another compensation item. The free hydraulic shocks and battery are appreciated, but on a purchase that’s $1,000, knowing what’s happening with my order is far more valuable to me than another accessory.
That said… if the accessory happened to be a factory trailer / winch kit I don’t think anyone would complain. 
I know we’re all excited to finally get these trucks in our hands, and I think a little more detail about where things currently stand would really help."

I kind of agree with that part and will let you know when I hear from Rlaarlo, which I expect will be soon since the Natives are getting restless?...
