i'm in the habit, as everyone should be, of running the fuel out of my engine when i'm done for the day. as a result, the next day i make it to the track, my motor is difficult to start for the first run without priming it. i got sick of having to take off my airfilter to prime the motor with a few drops of fuel down the carb. since i use a ziptie to secure my filter on the carb while i drive, priming became very annoying. i came up with a much easier way to prime my motor.

I rotate the flywheel until i just start to feel compression. after i fill the tank, i shove my fuel bottle up against the exhaust to make a decent seal. then i open to full throttle & squeeze the bottle a bit, ensuring no gas is squirted from the bottle into the pipe (a downward tilt works if the bottle has fuel in it).

this method pressurizes the tank through the exhaust pressure line & forces fuel through the lines & into the carb. the bottle-exhaust seal isn't perfect, but it is good enough to get fuel flow started. if you don't like using your bottle, anything that can blow pressure into the pipe will work (even your mouth: "he's giving his car mouth to mouth"). the flywheel rotation is important, otherwise the air can pass through the exhaust port & out the carb. i can't think of a more efficient way of priming a motor.

or a easyer way is to hold you finger over the pipe and turn the engine over until the fuel has reached the carb

Nice thoughts on a different method to do the priming. Your use of your fuel bottle is what makes your method different; otherwise, it is the same way many of us prime our engines.

Very few, if any, drop fuel directly into the carb anymore.

I remove the pressure tube from the pipe and blow into it while the carb is open.

I love the taste of nitro.

I guess my method is as original as i thought. It's just that nobody does it at my track. I've tried the starter method, but it seems to take longer & eat my starter batteries unecessarily. It's also more of a business than simply blowing in the pipe: 1 finger on the pipe, one hand pushing on the rear of the car to turn it over, & one hand holding the throttle.

LOL FastEddy, depending on the dirt used on the track, sometimes blowing on the pipe can taste good too. Seriously though, most prefer to puff on a pipe than resort to a line (can i say that here?).

Nitro is one of the most spicy things I have ever taised. That stuff burns your mouth like nothing else. Have you tried the Thread Lock? Mmmmmm Sweet. Try the thread lock man... Try the thread lock.

I know a few people who put a few drops in the carb to prime the engine. They are all running 1/8 on road cars. I use the finger over the stinger method. You are only runnng the starter box for a second or two so I dont think that you are wasting too much battery power. Buy hay, if that new method works for you, go with it. Thanks for the tip though.

I agree also I just pull off the line. blow in it till I hear the air stop coming out of carb and a pull or two and VRooommmm. Also I only Run Fuel lines that I can see my color of fuel in. Right now my fuel is a pink color so I run a clear line or very light blue. I prefere clear to having a fancy color because I like to be able to see my fuel in line and if it has bubbles in it. As to the way mentioned above that is to much work in my opion. X

I useualy plug the exhaust with my finger and hold the ez start, take the pressure line and blow into it untill i see gas in to the carb. or i covor the intake wiht my hand so it creats a suction and sucks the gas thru the lines:naughty:

last night i completely flooded my engine after 3seconds of using the exhaust plug/starter method.

i prefer the bottle/exhaust method, since it works well, is easy to control the amount of fuel, and doesn't require removing my filter. personally, i don't like the taste of nitro. i bet the blow in the pressure line would be the best way, but then the burning mouth would distract me from driving a little.

I plug the stinger with my finger and give the pull starter a couple of tugs. that pressurises it and sends fuel through the fuel line.

If you have a see through fuel line, you could see when to pull your finger off of the stinger. I stop right i see the fuel get to the engine.

might try it....
i alway use the finger over exhaust method....
thanks for the idea....

maybe an air compressor...:dumb: ?
