Also to aid in cleaning get some non-chlorinated brake cleaner.

This comes with a caveat:

Brake cleaner is a particularly harsh solvent. Won't hurt anything metal, but will readily attack some polymers and just about all enamel finishes. Also, it can seep into your sealed bearings and liquify the grease, which is especially bad where the front crank bearing and clutch bell bearings are concerned.

In other words, use it on a rag, don't just hose your kit down with it.

My preferred cleaning method is Windex and compressed air.

Traxxas rigs are good rigs you have to upgrade in some aweak areas bt there worth it. The revo is an awesome truck handles great plenty fast enough plus a crap ton of upgrades. If you want to just beat the crap out of one the Hpi savage is the one you want. The monster gt is also a solid rig minus the weak toe links, and I would recommend a FOC in any of these rigs. I am getting ready to post a nice Revo on here for sale if your looking for a Good revo.

Hopefully I'll have a parts list like that soon, mike!

Hobby shops gonna like me getting all this stuff! :-)

Hulk I'd definitely like to see it so let me know!

RC vehicles tend to multiply. You'll start with one, and before you know it, you'll have a dozen and be constantly buying/selling/trading kits and parts.

Just accept it now and you won't be surprised at yourself later when this hobby occupies >50% of a room ;)

Accumulate enough of them, she won't recognize a new one unless she sees the postman.

Not quite as physically easy as leaving with an empty gun case and returning with a full one, but also less noticeable on the bank account end (usually........)

lhs said it's basically the same as nitro blast cleaner , smells the same even, but cheaper, if it's non-chlorinated it's not supposed to effect rubber ect... Not to say your wrong or I'm right but they have been using it for years at the lhs. You can only buy the non chlorinated sensor safe stuff. It blasted the nitro oil off and evaporates almost immediately. Canadian tire brand is supposed to be the best. If your not comfortable with using that there was another post about denatured alcohol dilution I believe. Anyhow just do a seArch on break cleaner vs nitro blast. You'll find out they are basically the same thing. As long as the brake cleaner is NON-CHLORINATED. There is a lot of forums that recommend this and brake cleaner is half the price of nitro blast. Don't mean to come off as arguing, but r/c guys have been using it for quit some time. But it all comes down to with what your comfortable with.

People have just got to remember to make sure it's non chlorinated. Just thought I'd throw a couple of links up to verify guys have been using it on there are r/c's for years. Anyhow like I said do what you feel comfortable with.

To some extent, it depends on brand. Virtually all of it is non-chlorinated now, but some are much harsher than others. NAPA brand, for instance, is a bit mellower than Walmart or Oreilly.

I certainly use it at times, but I'm careful about what I get it on. If it's really a mess down low around the engine, I'll use a straw and spray carefully, avoiding the front bearing and clutch and trying to minimize contact with the pull start housing. I've had servo housings get gooey, fuel tanks turn from clear to opaque, etc.

Yeah I do see were your cing from. Spray straw around hard to get areas. I learned something new as well. Never gave the bearings a lot of thought. Don't want them to be totally clean of lubricant. Valid point brother.

yep they sure do multiply, I started with 1 t maxx now I have 16 rigs
I know this is bad and frowned apon but I am a real clean freak when it comes to rc's , I use a spray on degreaser, hose them down then spend a good 10 min with the compressor once its dry I break out the silicon spray and check everthing over then do my after run and replace the air filter.

Why's that frowned upon? I haven't seen anything about this yet...

You change the filter after every run? If so is that something I should do also?

Check your air filter at the end of the run. If it's really dusty or dirty then clean it and re-oil it.

Good call on the filter. If it's a 2 stage filter you should clean it every hour of use and the second stage every 3-4 hours. At least that's what traxxas recommends. These motors are so tight in tolerance dust in there is like sandpaper.

Good call. NEVER run a nitro without a good oiled foam or dual stage foam filter. You can destroy an engine by doing that. K&N filters are pretty but do not offer enough filtration of smaller particles.

I usually do like 5 outings then replace the filter with the 2 stage they get cleaned at the end of an outing,i don't run in too dusty conditions thou
as for the hosing down its a bad idea without a compressor as moisture will find its way into everything

The revo 3.3 is what I want next, I would suggest looking for a nice used one from your local hobby store let the original owner take the price it, provided the engine was correctly broken in. Those are my plans, try to get one for cheap since I'm gonna mod it anyway.

I'm still hanging on the fence just for this reason. I do want a new one because I will know everything will be right and in 100% condition, but the initial cost is holding me back. I also plan to mod it, I can't leave anything stock lol!
