This is the bird. Wingspan is huge. Should be in today or tomorrow for a peek.

Dude, I am so jealous! I would love to be able to fly again.... I have the space... I just don't have anyone to fly with. It has been years since I have flown and I was still learning then. Without somone to buddy box with I am kinda out of luck. I have the Great Planes simulator... but it does not help the much..... The planes are so small on that 17" LCD that I can hardly see the thing. Anyway.... Nice rig dude..... good luck and have fun man.

Congrats on the new arrival. I see it also came with a nice powerplant. Have fun with the build!

Hey SD....

This is the first Spec Mill I have ever owned and I hope it is easy to tune. I was a bit nervous buying a turbo mill, but I figured it a good choice for this particular buggy. I am also looking into the OS 2050 pipe instead of the Jammin..... I don't think I will be disapointed.... I hope! Thanks my friend.

Tom

Tom, forgot to mention, congrats onthe mill. I have the same on on myTTR buggy along with the highly recommended OS 2050 pipe. It is a hard mother to break in but holds a tune well once you get it through the first steps.

The F4U will be Bl/lipo instead of 4 stroke. There is a great article in this months "Quiet Flyer" Mag that details how to convert large scale craft.

Hey Revo.... That sounds cool! That is going to be a neat conversion!

Do you have any advice on breaking in the Spec motor? What makes it hard to break in, and is there anything I can do to make it easier... or avoid a costly mistake? Thanks my friend.

Hmmm, let's see, ok, it's a tight mill, with high compression, hard to turn over initially on a starter box, large displacement, high strung as far as tuning initially, very powerfull so hard to keep from stabbing it while doing on the road break in...

I ran mine in the rig but on a block of wood so the wheels were off the ground for two tanks then did the rest of the break in in the street doing big figure eights. Took about 8-9 tanks total, but by then I also had it tuned. Since then it has held it's tune fairly well, and I do not think I am getting it's all out of it. Worst part of break in was the first couple of starts on the starter box, and keeping it running. I still have fits getting it started on the box, but it is more the box and operator than the motor.

Wow! For a rookie... It sounds like I have my work cut out for me! I am always up for a challenge. It looks like I may have to get a heat gun.. and loosen the plug to start. We shall see. Thanks for the info my friend. This is the first really "Good" mill I have owned. Thanks man.

Tom

Trust me, you're in for a fight to get it started. I have a VZ-R II, and it was a pain in the tail to get it to run at first. After the 3rd tank, it loosened up more than enough to stop sticking at TDC (most of the time).

wow... this doesn't boad well for me. Oh well I will get it started.... Somehow. Any of you war weary verterans out there have some advice on how to get this thing broken in proper? I am still a ways off from breaking in the mill though. Thanks

Nice ride bro...

Here's the breakin method that I used for my Novarossi P5... Worked great...

Damn, Tom. Here I go again trying to derail your thread. Sorry....

Revo, at least try a 4-stroke. If you really like the F4U, there is nothing like a 4-stroke in one. A buddy of mine had a .40 size Corsair with a .56 4-stroke. Flew scale and sounded scale. At least try one of those engines.

I have a Balsa USA Eindecker with a .91 Saito in it. Just trying to fly it scale is a challenge. Put a .91 in the Corsair and see what ya think. Get at least one 4-stroke plane. You won't regret it.

Dang you Digger! J/K LOL

No worries my friend... I don't mind. You are right.. those four strokes really sound great. I have never had the oportunity to fly anything scale... but I have seen it and you are right... it is a thing of beauty.

Hey Revo.... what magazine did you say you read about converting a 4 stroke plane to Bl/lipo?
