I have a crt.5 with the feigao 9L and mamba max. I have been running it on some 2S 8000 packs in series and its stupid fast even though the batteries weigh a ton. Its ok on 2S. Not all that fast but still fun. I am sure the drivetrain and tires would last forever with a 2S. I aleady have the 2S for my esavage so that works out great. I am looking at a 3S lipo but $200 is a big hit for just a battery. SHould a just be happy with a 2S and leave it as is or get a 3S and go crazy? I could even just regear for a little more top end with the 2S setup...

Or i could just buy a 3S and call it a day

on my crawler i went from 2 to 3s and wont go back!!!

Are you kidding? What do you think we're going to say? No stay with the smaller one and not break stuff? NO WAY! Get the bigger one and smash the living sh*t outa that thing!

In all seruousness though, i would say get the bigger one, if you don't like it, you can put it your esavage and keep the 2s for the jammin crt.

the savage runs on a pair of 2S in series for 4S.

i guess i better save my pennies.

i started shying a little more after smoking a few hundred in esc's

Why waste your time with a 9L on 3S? Grab an economy 4S pack and call it a day. :D

You can use an economy 4S pack in a lightweight rig like your CRT.5 because the amp draw will be low. You don't necessarily need a high end pack like the flightpower (unless you also plan on running it in a heavier rig).

wasn't low on that 3S 1550. :(

what pack would you recomend? i want an end all solution.

The mah on the 3S 1550 was TOO low. On 4S, amp draw will be less than 3S, which is why you don't need a 25C+ pack as I recommended before when you were looking to buy a 3S pack.

You want an end all solution but you have a budget, correct? What is your budget, and what other rigs do you plan on running this 4S pack in?

That would also be a suitable pack. There is another company that makes budget packs but for some reason the name is slipping my mind right now. I know you can get a decent 4S pack for less than $200.

Personally, if you can wait a little longer I'd probably save up and get the nicer Flightpower pack....I like to always think long term that I'll have another rig that can use a great 4S pack to run in (like an 1/8 scale).

i'll save and grab the big fat 25C 4S pack. thanks man

i changed my mind. its borderline uncontrollable on 3S. i picked up a top-o-the-line polyquest 3S 6000 for it. i can get an hour on it easily. generally when i am tired of running it, the battery is around 11.4-11.6

Interesting, I would think that the average amp draw would be greater than 6 amps with your set-up but according to what you are saying the average amp draw is less than 6 amps ??? :ponder2:

i haven't put a clamp-meter on it so i don't know. i generally run it for 15 minutes and then i am done. i will run it 3-4 times before i recharge the battery and its never been below 11V as far as i can remember. I generally do a few wots and then just cruise around making little jumps. The longest i have run it nonstop is around 30 minutes. The amp draw is going to be much lower than your average setup, such as my e-savage. its a feigao 9L on a 12th scale truggy (crt.5). the crt doesn't weigh anything and its a low KV motor to boot. lotsa torque on not much weight. i generally run around 25-50% throttle. any more than that and its just to squirrely.
