This body explains the squared flares.
If the HPI body were painted in better detail, it would hide a lot of things or make them "right".

The fender flares being squareish really throws off the look huh? The other problem I see is the A-pillar is too thick, and the outer area on the windshield doesn't curve, or wrap as much as it should. Those two things to me are what is making this one look a tad weird. But it's not bad. And its HPI. They need support to get back to their original place in the hobby. So show this one some love guys. I hope they sell a billion of them.

Although, this doesn't look too bad.

Oh, another thing is the wheels are too big.

I think that's the problem. It's like diet soda. It looks like real soda, fizzes like real soda then you take a drink and it's NOT real soda. In this case it supposed to be a Hilux and it looks a bit Hilux-ish, but it just slightly off enough that I'm like no no no.

A bit late to the HPI hilux party. I agree some of the design is slightly off, but it's still darn cool and I'm a big back the Future fan, sooo I kinda want one. Lol.
How is parts support and additional truck bodies on HPI? I assume maybe a TRX4m body could work, just need to pay attention to wheelbase.
I seem to have one of each brand crawler, maybe it's fitting to add HPI to my fleet

They are nice but time consuming... 3 coats of wax!
