I just bought a new Plymoth Cuda body for my nitro and I'm going to paint it Sassy grass green on top and black on the bottom with a flat black shaker hood scoop!

This is my first time painting a body any tips tricks, help?

well first off clean the body. my uncle tells me if you put a spray paint can in some of water for a while the paint will come out much smoother and it will look better. thats if your using the spray paint.

First, the link.

I recommend that as one of the better articles. There are many more, but that gives nice basics. Also, at the top of the Body Shop forum, we have a sticky that's just for info links.

I'd suggest taking just a little time to read a few of those sites. They'll give good rundowns on how to prep the body and how you should approach painting the body.

And remember, RCNT rule is that you must post pictures of the body when it's done. :)

If you are going to do a flat black hood you will have to paint the hood on the outside of the body. I have found Krylon ultra flat adheres well to lexan, and remains flexable once dried, it won't peel off the body. I have beat the bodies I have used it on to death, and the bodies gave up before the paint did.

I'm only doing the shaker scoop in flat black because it goes under and up like a real shaker scoop! Ill still use that paint thanks.

Youll have to paint the "Flat Black" on the outside is what he was saying. So youll get the FLAT black effect. Otherwise if you paint the inside, the lexan works as a clear coat and it will be shiny. Just the flat color parts though. Paint the rest on the inside of course.

oh now i get it, thanks. Tonight I'm going to start taping off the car for paint.

What do you think? Should i paint the top of the cuda first or paint below the body line black then tape that off and do the top? What would be easier?

Id paint the inside 1st. So then you wont scratch up the outside when painting the inside.

recently painted a 69 charger body about the same color fasflourescent green with pearl white faded to chameleon gold flames with fasflourescent yellow accents to random flames turned out sweet good luck with it painting can be a real joy once you get onto it
