Hi there, welcome back to the hobby! If you want to get started back to running your nitro r/c, you may need to check the electronic part of your r/c if its still working, such as radio and servo. Then you can progress to the engine. I recommend reading this

goodluck with your r/c! Have fun!

Thanx for the Reply jojoviudez!!!

nothing worked, radio and servo saidly...... it have been so long, what could i do? change the servo and radio? then work on the engine ?? i might think that is in the same position as the radio deade :s

I'm just jumping to conclusions..

thanks for the help in advance

You might want to look at a new rechargeable battery pack before going too much farther.

it uses AA battery, i bought new battery when i tried, didn't do anything....

thanks

+1. Replace any batteries with fresh ones, make sure all the connections are in good shape, and get the electronics working first. If your engine had any old fuel left in it, it will require a complete tear down/cleaning/seal job.

i tried with two sets of fresh battery and nothing work :S:S what could i do??

thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

first off, make sure you check all your plugs in the electronics. battery, reciever, switch, anything that has a connector. if there is nothing that is bad, you most likely need a new rx or tx. when you switch the power on, do the servos twitch? if so, this means that they at least are getting power. i would look to make sure your crystals are the same frequency and that your tx is getting powered.

Transmitters have some sort of LED indicator to let you know it's on. If you see a light on the transmitter, that might tell you it's working. But that's not a guarantee that the receiver is working. Like another member mentioned, the crystals may have gone bad. Along with servos building some kind of rust or calcium lime like deposit found inside the servos due to moisture build up over the years. This could also happen to your receiver as well. If this happens, you can try cleaning it carefully with a toothbrush and spray with wd 40. No guarantee it will work thou. But if you think this is all overwhelming for you, it's time to go shopping for a christmas present lol. The engine will be a different adventure. It would also help if you can find a manual of your r/c as reference. I'd like to ask where do you buy nitro parts and fuel if you say there is no hobby store near you? I would also recommend looking into electric r/c and see if this is something for you. Good luck.

Hello guys!! I'm so great full for all the replies!!!! thanks a lot!!!!!!!

first of when i turn on the car the servo dosent twicht, and the remote control wont light up anything.

Second this hobby is pretty elite here where i life, the is only 1 hobby shop.. but is just to buy nitro and that it, when you ever need a part for your car a have to order it from your country(USA) to mine, it like a week's wait.. I'm going to try with the wd40!!

i always loved this hobby! my problem was that one day at the race track, i was up at the tower where you can see the track complete, that where all drivers go... 3 years ago the tower wasn't in good shape, after i finished a run i took the stairs to refuel my cars and, puff the stair broken i felt from the second floor to ground, thankfully i didn't broke anything but i was very beaten up. After that accident i didn't come back until i got fix... since them i always wanted to race.. that was my first nitro car...

thanks for all the help you guys have given me!!!!

ps: srry for the english i try my best

if your tx and rx isn't getting any power thats definitely a bad sign they both should be replaced. if you plan to do some racing i would get a spektrum if not really, a cheap radio would work too. if you get a radio that uses crystals you should get a failsafe (spektrum and most 2.4g have them built in) these prevent a runaway in the event of radio interference and can save you hundreds.

I'm going to try with the wd40 to see if i can get it to work, because after that i may have to do the engine... i may see the price off both tx and rx.. or just get a new car for almost the same price. any recommendation???

thanks

If you find yourself the need to buy a new radio and transmitter, get a 2.4 ghz radio tx/rx. There are 2 online store I could recommend, amainhobbies.com and towerhobbies.com I've used amain before, fast delivery and great customer support. Ofcourse there are tons of 2.4 ghz radio out in the market each has its own pros and cons. One nice feature is a built-in fail safe feature. It's a matter of personal preference which brand you will go with. I personally prefer 3 channels, simple design and a good after market support. Good brands such as Spektrum or Futaba just an example.
Here are some 2.4 ghz you might want to check out for yourself. They range between $80 to $100. Ofcourse there are cheaper stuff off ebay, but you need to know what you are buying.

Have fun going back to the hobby. Oh by the way, how much do you pay for a gallon of nitro at your hobby store?

The easiest and simplest way to test your servo if it works is use your remote control together with the matching receiver. If you only have a transmitter, you need to purchase a receiver along with the matching crystals if applicable. Nowadays, more people are using 2.4 ghz. Make sure that you are also using a good and charged battery. Also, please read the instructions that comes with the transmitter and/ or receiver to properly set it up. Most major brands have the instructions on the manufacturer's website for the user to easily download and/or print for reference. Can you post a photo of your r/c and your remote control/servos please? :)

i just transfer the the receiver to the car, put fresh battery and didn't do anything, i just found another pack where the battery goes, and also didn't workout.

What else can i do??

Load up one of those aa holders and plug it directly into the receiver, where the switch goes. After your sure the transmitter and receiver have the same frequency crystals of coarse. If that works, you no it's your switch/switch harness.

didnt work, just did what you told me, try with both aa holders...

any more thing to do??

Make sure you plug the bat holder in so that the wires are oriented the same way as the servo wires. Basically, make sure the red and black wires are in the same slots as the servos red and black wires. Does the crystal for the transmitter say tx on it? Rx on the receiver crystal?
