I bought the three piece setup and ran my truck (LST2) in a parking lot to breakin/tune in, and along the way I side swiped a few curbs, and the result was that is it bent the front plate which caused seperation of the front end causing the transaxle to disconnect also causing the front shock tower to lean backwards. Have to go hammer out the skid plate. My impression of the LST2 after being out 4 times, it's fast, it fly's across the bumps.... but it's not assembled with big enough bolts, nor are the screw fittings on the botton of the frame strong enough to handled the bashing. Other problems encountered... broken motor/chassis support, header pipe support, locking nuts holding the front transaxle at both ends came out. And damm, tearing up the beach today (not all sand) I had to replace the air filter after each tank of fuel. Now looking for a nice grass park to run. :opps:

I watched a kid take an LST from about a 15 foot jump on concrete, landed on all fours and it damn near busted in half. I was very surprised... You'd think something with that many screws in it would hold up a little better. I believe his was pretty much stock (total newbie to the hobby). The front end almost fell off with all the screws that popped out.

It wasn't a very forgiving jump. Straight up, straight down. So no inertia was absorbed with going forward. It was all absorbed with the shocks and obviously the chassis.

this last weekend i was also bashing on my lst and savage. i was lanching them both off a jump about 25-30ft long 4-5ft high. The lst only lasted proly 3 jumps and they were all fairly clean landings. Anyway i agree the front skid on mine gave out too. Not to mention the pinion gear broke right through the case ending my day short. Not to worry though the savage ran the rest of the day with only one broken turnbuckle!!!

I guess I brought it upon myself using New Area skid plates.... after a hard hit on the front skid, it tore the front two screws out of the Bulkhead. No big deal really, replacement part only cost $5.00, the only problem nobody has it, it's on backorder for 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LST aka The Cinder Block

The LST might not be the most durable truck out there, but it was mainly built for racing. A savage is meant for HC bashing, and thous it handles like an anvil.

I think I may have the only strong LST out there...LOL

My LST has taken a 4 foot ramp that launches it about 10-15 feet up depending on speed and accuracy of taking the jump. I have landed most of the time well. There were a couple that caused me to tumble. I took out the savage one last time before the rebuild and it took the same beating. Both walked away from that bashing in tact. I have the Carbon fiber deck pieces, FOC with stock gears, Aluminum lower arms and Aluminum diff cases. My LST handles great in my opinion. Now my other LST is in stock trim so I will do a comparison as soon as I get the mill for it.
