New Engine Wont Run!

I absolutely agree with Diver. It's not the LSN, or secondary you should be adjusting right now for how it runs. If it gets real hot real fast while idling, open it up for a richer mix, and keep checking the temp. You will have to get a balance between that and your idle speed. Once it behaves at idle, then you start driving it and checking temp. At this point, you adjust only the HSN. One sixteenth to one eighth turn at a time. If you keep moving both needles, it will be a nightmare to get it right. Once you have it running right, that's when you do a bit of tweeking to the LSN for max throttle off the line. I'm not familiar with the factory settings for that particular engine, but it sounds to me like both needles are too lean right now.

I ran 3 tanks through it yesterday. Ran it hard, and I got it to stay around 250-260. It's puffing smoke pretty good, so I guess I'm ok for now. Yeah the LSn is a sob if messed with too much I found out. Luckily mine clicks when it is turned, this makes it much easier to tune. thanks for the info :D

Aww hell!! I went out to the track tonight and ran. Man it was running awesome, but seamed a lil lean. Checked temp 260, not bad. Ran about 4 laps hard, clearing doubles with ease, checked temp 310!!!!!!! :flamer: Shut it down immediately. The track is clay and was tacky, my truck was hooking up really good. This probably helped raise the temp. I gotta have an air leak somewhere. I'm gonna try the RVT sealer on my carb and needles, that hopefully will help. I even have an aftermarket head?? Any suggestions?
thanks guys

The head should be fine, but yes, others will do better. Too many to list.

Sealing it will give you the BEST result IMO. Go for it man.
