I doubt it will work out, was supposed to meet with him at noon yesterday, then yesterday evening, then this morning, now hes saying he can't use the atm cause it will max him for the weekend, no reply to Ill drive you to the bank, everyone in the county is open till noon.............. makes me want to go to the shooting range and waste a couple hundred rounds........

Thinking out loud here, my LHS has the bug body, aluminum servo horn for the jr8711, and the cc bec, all at prices that are close enough to ordering it, then a-main for the venom pro (might as well do it right) and the boss claws, then ckrc for the punk dig... now supposedly monday I will have the money, was "promised" hmmm... we shall see.

now a question on steering, i was bored and hooked up the leads from my stampede to the servo on the berg and had a mostly dead battery, turned the wheel and noticed that the plate I've mounted the servo on isnt strong enough, it flexes ALOT if the tires are in a little bit of a bind, and this is with a mostly dead 7.2v...

SO, on rccrawler I've seen alot about the "86jeep" style steering and read alot on there about it, anyone here have any opinions? If i do that then I'm adding a clocking fixture from ckrc to the list i guess.

almost done with the steering servo relocation, just a little more metal to shave

Yeah the 86jeep style is the best way to go in my opinion. I did basically the same thing on my bully and it worked great.

I've taken alot of metal out, it has to be very close to breaking thru, I relocated the motor back as far as i can, I'll finish it this week sometime.

Went so far as to take the sticker off the motor where it touches the servo to gain room, it doesn't lack much to be done though. You can see how far back I moved the motor, I'm actually using the hole that the gear cover bolts with, drilled through, as part of the motor mount.

Looking good. What are you using? I used a grinder and a dremel and it took FOREVER!

I'm using a dremel and a hand file, I buried the dremel in it with a sanding drum or 10 then cleaned up with the hand file, not too bad time wise. Moving the motor was a pain, cutoff wheel and a jagged little bit lol

I thought about gluing some 40grit sandpaper to the side of a sawzall blade and having at it with the sawzall lol

Havent decided what exactly I'm doing for a mount though, do most of the "86jeep style" setups just mount on the one hole and wedge fit against the case on the other side? Never have seen a how to or in-depth pics.

This is how my buddy's, Idnewcrwlr's is....

how does that mount attach to the axle? is the top of the tube tapped?

I was thinking at work today, an easy way to "machine" the flat in the axle would be with an air sander with roloc discs would almost be the right size to not need to move it much either

3x.5....Make sure you do it by hand or you will snap the tap off fast, only takes like 4 lbs of pressure or some crap to snap a 3m tap...

yeah, I better buy 20 of them....lol

should only need to tap about 4 threads in right?

Yeah that should work.

Time is running out, daylight has faded, is there any hope.... Tune in next post for "Holy cow I got the money!" or "Who wants a T-maxx and stampede?" Same r\c site, same r\c thread......

Got some parts today, got a servo horn and stuff to finish out my steering, got a CC BEC too. debating on if I should wire it up and run it till the batteries are dead or wait till i get the dig and do it right once..... VOTES? lol

Youve been building it for like 2 years now, Id wait a little more and just do it all at once lol.

Its a very difficult decision, I could at least drive it around the house and get steering and such setup..... kinda like opening one of your christmas presents before christmas lol

MAN this servo is STRONG!!! dont want to get a finger caught on this thing...lol
