Hiya guys,

Well I've done it. Just ordered a MBX5 Prospec off TowerHobbies for some $900inc UPS to UK. I think I'll probably use the Vantage CF pipe in my MP777 in this but forgetting that, what would you recommend as the best:

Radio + high-power servos (not 3PK)
Mill (Novarossi?, RB modded something?)
Pipe

I'd probably use the exact same radio to run the MP777 once revived...I'm thinking of something like an Airtronics, what's the best they offer ;)

Cheers, Mike

Cool that's a sweet setup

Where can I get teh spektrum pro?

Good to see you back into it mike, get some pics of that buggy up when you start the build.

As for the mill I'm currently split between these two:

RB Concept WS7III Off-Road Competition Buggy Engine (New Carburetor) w/2045 Tuned Pipe

or

Novarossi RX21P5X 5 port Hot Mod Off-Road Competition Buggy Engine (Standard Plug) with the recommended rossi 9886 tuned pipe. The cost in the end will be more than the WS7III.

I'm more after (i) overall performance with a bit more (ii) bottom end. Having said that, I really loved the second hand P5 I ran for a very short while so I'm leaning a bit towards a stock P5X or the modded one hrm.

any suggestions?

If you want bottom-end then stick with a long-stroke 5-port like the P5 over the WS7.

Are you still in the Leeds area?

nigs - yea and yea, that's what I was thinking. Probably go P5X in the end :)

That is why I gave you that link. Airtronics' strongest digital servo is only 110oz. If you want digital, go with a different brand such as Hitec, Futaba, JR, Ko Propo or Ace.

Ah cheers, I'll stick with the M11 as I fancy 200os/in on steering. Also the digital servos tend to eat batteries...

I also looked at a few M11 vs 3PK threads and people are almost split down the middle, with a few preferring the M11, and since I owned a 3PK (and found the build quality of the unit to be a bit cheapish, although great remote functionality wise) think it's time for a change :)

Just ordered the 2 servos from tower and some pretty sweet ofna tires (for break in).

Got a large (final) order to place middle of June from A main, ~a grand's worth: radio, spektrum, mill, etc.

Wow, the prospec arrived! Impressive packing, and pretty sweet. Btw I pulled out the wheels (dish type, white) anyone want 'em for like $20 inc postage?

A little bit of caution on those rims; they have an offset on them. You will either have to stick with mugen-branded rims, or you can pick up the offset adapters (2mm should work). They're basically replacement hex's that push the rims 2mm out more on each side. You should be able to get a set of four (two to a pack) off ebay for $15 USD.

If you go the adapter route, you will be able to use any Ofna (Hyper7) rim you choose.

No problem; I put a set on mine, strictly because I had a ton of ofna rims/tires layin around from my previous buggy, and didn't want to sell 'em (altho, I could have sold 'em and paid for the car, lol).

I don't have the part number onhand at the moment, but if you look in the back of the book, under the optional parts area, you'll see them. They just replace the hex-drive part that slips over the axle, that the rim rides on. They're even the same color as the stock prospec ones, so you won't have a wierd looking setup.

It took a bit of digging, but here is the link to them:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=MUGE0209

They're part number MUGE0209, two to a pack, so two are needed for the entire car.

Thanks a lot, searched for the part number and found

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/2963

so added 'em to my final order :D

Just placed another order with a-main, for some tiny bits including the fioroni chassis for the prospec, so I'll be listing the stock prospec chassis for sale with the dish wheels in FS.

Left on the to-order list: M11, Spektrum, M11 battery and Hot mods P5X

Those are them, and at a great price, too. I think I paid about $15.35 total for mine when I bought them, shipped, off ebay. I can't remember though, it's been a long time, lol.

Oh, and for exhaust, don't forget to order a pipe. I made the braindead mistake of thinking I ordered one, not double-checking, and having to scrape together $45 for an Ofna 063. Got everything else on the order, tho, lol.
