Hello all,
I am relatively new to the boating community. I used to boat when I was a kid and no matter how much I tried to save my boat, it was falling to pieces… so I’m in the market for a new one.
With a budget of around £50 what is a good boat to get back into?
Been looking at a couple with recommendations on AliExp but what recommendations do you guys have?
Thankyou

Welcome to the site.

@WickedFog can tell you horror stories of cheap boats. Your price is like $67 usd. Not much around for that. I recently bought one. Cheapest I could do is a traxxas blast. You can het them as low as 100usd if you look.

The FT012 is a mean little boat, but ours died before the first battery pack through it was done. Took 3 months to get a replacement ESC for it, and when it showed up it was covered in what I could only describe as old engine grease out of a 50 year old farm tractor. It took about 3 weeks of back and forth emails to someone who barely spoke English, who kept asking me to go buy my own ESC for it, which by the time I did that I could buy a new boat. So finally, after all that trouble, I settled on getting $50 back out of my $90 spent, and that crappy looking used ESC, which does work.

Buying an aliexpress RC is often nothing but headaches when something goes bad.

Welcome to RCT.
I asked this same question awhile back. I settled on a Proboat Recoil 18 that I scored on ebay. I wanted a UDIRC because it was cheaper but, they really weren't that much cheaper. Something in the 18–24-inch (45-65 cm) range is a good beginner boat
Proboat has good boats, the electronics are spektrum so, those usually suck.

Hmmm, like you say I have had a mix of good deals but also some incredible grief from Ali…

Any models you would recommend for the UDIRC?
I had a look at the recoil but they’re coming out at like £150 mark….

Buy used as long as it looks good.
The UDIRC I wanted was also an 18” I don’t remember what they called it
