So I need a more capable charger then the simple wall charger I got with my stick pack and glow charger. I know its been discussed A ton :deadhorse: but I need to consult with the wise men before I make a purchase. I'm going to be getting several lipo RX packs that I will need to charge and I may get a couple BIG lipos if I go electric for the onroad project. then the assortment of regular nicad / nimh I have laying around. I'd love to be able to charge a couple batteries at once and a temp monitor for the lipos seems like a good idea. I also don't mind if I need a seperate balancer if the charger justifies it. Oh and I have a bunch of 12V power supplies so that isn't a requirement.
Here are the ones I'm debating.
MRC super brain 989
Duratrax ICE
Venom Pro Charger

Anything else I should be looking at, and as always

:bowtothercnt:

I have the Duratrax Ice charger and have been very pleased with it, but it only charges one pack at a time but should meet all of your charging needs nicd, nimh, lipo,,,

Yes I HIGHLY reccomend this charger. I have been VERY pleased with it. I've tried the ICE and Superbrain at my LHS, and I don't like either nearly as much as my Hyperion. The Hyperion is very easy to use, and you don't need an additional power supply. Also, when you buy from maxamps, they have a reward program. When you spend $100, you get 5% off of everything that you buy, $200 gets you 10%, and it goes all the way up to 20% off of everything you order. It's not all at one time, but each time you buy something, it adds to the total, whether it's one big order or 20 small orders. I'm saving 10% and it adds up to a lot each time I buy a battery or charger, etc... If you buy the charger, you will save money when you buy the batteries, and then the next time you'll save more, and so on.

I can't say enough good things about maxamps.com. They have a 2 week wait on some batteries that I needed for a comp in a few weeks. I emailed them, and they're going to custom build me some batteries with the new cells on a rush order to get them to me asap. That's the kind of customer service that I've had every time I've dealt with them.

i have the same one and love it. Gets a little warm for me so i put a fan on it.
Mainly when charging at 6A for extended periods of time.

I have the same charger Charlie linked and I love it!

This is the second or third time that I have read about your charger getting hot.....I think there is something wrong with it. I have the same charger and it hardly gets above room temp charging 14 cells at 6 amps. I charge two lipos back to back and get the same results. I think you should contact Hyperion and ask them about it.

It is normal for a charger to get warm while charging. My older Hyperion has a built in fan that kicks on once the internal temperature of the charger gets a little past ambient temps.
