Being new to RC cars, my “build project” is trying to master precision control at slow speeds. I’m finding it very challenging learning to drive under control around various barriers. Speed will come much later along with goofy bashing!!

You should look into a worm gear drive setup if it's even possible on your rig. This setup has two advantages. 1: precise speed control without having to give too much power to climb an obstacle and 2: automatic braking when you let off the throttle. Only thing is this setup won't be fast at all but will have a ton of torque. Don't some Axials have this type of setup?
