Hey everyone.

New to RC...well real RC that is. I've had the toys but am looking at getting the real thing. That's where I was hoping you all could help me out.

The only two things I do know is that I want something offroad, and electric. I'm not afraid of the time and tinkering involved with nitro. I just think for my first "real" rc that electric would be easier.

I like the truggy/stadium truck/short-course look. So I was looking at the Rustler or Slash from Traxxas. However with no other knowledge about other brands/companies I was going with Traxxas only because they sound like they have very good customer service/warranty.

So what other brands/cars should I be looking at other then Traxxas?

My price range should stay around $250.

Also I'm up in Canada, so I love that the slash electronics are all waterproof. Cause god knows I won't be able to resist the snowbanks:hehe: Anyone know of any online sites to buy from the run out of canada?

Thanks and hope you all had a good christmas!

IMO if you want a good all-around rig stick with the Slash. The electronics are waterproof as you said and the thing is almost indestructable. I love mine!

i would say for a starting car get a cheaper car and upgrade it when you can out drive your set up, so buy something like a rustler or an xtm x-cellerator, and upgrade to a 13t motor for example when your ready, or mabey even brushless

Welcome to RCNT. I think the slash is a great starter car and later if you want more speed you can upgrade the slash or get something a little better.
