I was hoping a person could maybe get a shorty pack to fit with minimal Dr. Emel involvement.

I really wanted this option to work out. Looks like I'm off to do more searching.
 
Out of curiosity, why are you trying to fit a shorty pack? The higher C rating than what the standard size skinny stick packs provide?

Maybe you could print a wedge to fit in the red rectangle, under the battery, to angle the pack and wedge it against the outside edge of the chassis. It would increase your COG...but mo powa.
 
They are fun as hell if you have a good place to run them. We have a group of them in my shop and race them inside during the winter. Gives us something to do when it's -25 outside. They have been surprisingly durable, considering ours get smashed into heavy machinery all the time. It's fun just to race around the shop floor playing "tag" too. For $169 RTR, they are a great way to get through a long winter.
