Well, I went out for a drive yesterday. Stopped over at a friends house. Ended up at a car lot, and now there is a 2003 4x4 Chevy truck in my garage.

Damn! How did that happen?

A Chevy?

Some of you may know from previous pasts, I'm a ford man. I can see a Dodge maybe, but a Chevy! Damn!

Na it's a nice truck, price was right, and to not be driving a little Honda for my everday car it's worth it. Chevy, or not. LOL!!!!!!!!

I've had both Ford & Chevy, & I still like my Chevy better... The ride is so much nicer, the interior (dash) is much better looking, & the 5.7 Vortec just kicks ass... lol Good luck with it....

I'm :sorry: I've always liked Fords. I would love to have one of the new Mustang's sitting in my driveway. Instead I have a 97 Taurus. Of course I can't complain. It has been a great car and I hope to get at least 4 more years out of it.

Pictures?

You too huh? I was at the car lot last weekend and almost went home with one of those new 2005 170hp Scion TC. It is way better than the other 2 Scions that are out and seems to be in my price range. I was able to walk away thankfully as they were ready to give me the loan. I am liking the fact that the Scions are actually Toyota's. BTW I hate the 2000 Focus i am driving. What a piece of poop!

Ok I have driven both ford and chevy's and I have to say that the chevy is where my heart is. I have driven 3 fords and 3 chevy's. all the fords broke down and my chevy's drove well. All had maintenance issues but thats normal. The chevy's I have had 68 impala, 77 GMC cheyenne( still a chevy ) and a 98 blazer. All drove well. no stupid problems that the dealer could find but would be found by me. Paint jobs that sucked ass... the list goes on. BUT I have always lliked the older mustangs 64-69 and now the new 2005.

WIth the gas prices these days I am going to get the Honda element. Yes I know what you guys say but hey its me that likes it and me driving it.

I would love to get a nice silverado truck or a tahoe or even the colorado. All nice.

Congrats on your purchase. post some pics on when you get a chance.

I have an 02 trailblazer, and that thing rides great. It is thirsty though, but what the hell I like it!

I love my Ford Truck.
After looking at the 2004 new design I may try a Dodge next time. Something about the word Hemi that gives me a boner.
My truck is 3.5 years old and has 24,000 miles, time for a new one.

Damn Ed only 24000 miles ONLY? Do you walk to work and every where else? LOL. I just got my Xterra and I have put on close 9000 miles on it since April.

Please sell me your truck!!! I love that thing!

I'm in love with the ford f-250 with crew cab with a damn turbo power stroke now thats the bone baby!!

The new trucks minimized the rear seating on the 4 doors.
With mine the rear seat backs fold down to make a smooth flat platform. On the newer ones the rear seats are not FULL SIZE like mine and the bottom of the seat folds up. The floor is not flat and makes it difficult to pack my plastic RC boxes so they don't move around.

Isn't it funny how plastic boxes to hold my RCs will be the primary influence on spending 35-45K on a vehicle. Kind of like a 10x15 foot walk in closet selling a 700k house.

Ah, god bless Toyota. Did you look at the new Corolla XRS? It's got the same engine/tranny as the celica gts. 170hp...I think it runs for right around $20,000

oh, the tc is actually 160hp.

got my mazda 3 back in july...over 17k miles on it. my new chevy 2500 (yeah...its got a 'max) is at 7300 miles and is only 2 months old. i like it way better than the dodge i sold last week, but i guess thats like comparing apples and oranges. oh yeah- since i have my own business- i walk to work...bout 30 yards from door to door. lol figure that one out.

if any of you are looking for a good car for the money- check out the mazda 3. mines a 5 door like pissant has. i think i paid about $16,400 for it. 30 mpg, 165 hp, and handles really good. absolutely NO OPTIONS and its still loaded! check em out.

I have to get a digi cam. I've been kind of putting it off so the parents, or GF will have something to get me for X-Mas.

I went back, and I didn't post very specific on the truck.

2003 Chevy Silverado LS. 5.3 liter V8, auto, 4x4 that has a shifter on the floor. Dark green, ext. cab, 6ft bed with liner. The previous owner put rain gaurds on hte windows, which I like, and step bars on the side that I'm going to take off in about an hour. They are useless, and the truck doesn't sit that high to need them. I gave them just over 20K, and a peice of crap Honda DelSol. I really started to hate that car the past couple three years.

I would like to get a Hybrid, but they don't make a full size truck in Ohio yet. I think Chevy is the only one that does, and I read that it only gets 1 MPG better than the regular version. Any of you Cali peps know? I think it is available there?

Oh yeah, forgot to say 25133 miles on it.

Hype,

When you start your engine and it's still cold, listen for what's called "piston slap." A lot of the first runs of the LS-1 based engines had this slap. You can define it as a taping sound in the engine till the enigne gets up to running temp and moving pard expand. I beleive it's because of the piston pin being a little loose. Check the TSB's on the truck. I think with the 2003 models, you should be fine. It was mostly a 2000-2002 issue for the 5.3's.

Diver,
Haven't noticed any odd engine noise, but I'll pay a little closer attension. Thanks for the heads up. Might be a dumb Q:, but what is a TSB?

I do have to turn it in for the passanger door handle. It doesn't like to return to its normal position by it self. No big deal, but hey, I have 15 months, and 15K miles to go on the factory warrenty. So, I might as well right? The only other thing that I would like explained is the knocking noise in the front end when I turn corners. Is it something to do with the torsion bar set up? I don't know, but every Chevy I test drove did it.
