questions about electric r/c

hey guys, does electric r/c deal with as many problems as nitro r/c does, and what are some common electric r/c problems? please help me out:)

No, not really. There are the usual things that will go wrong-need maintenance just like any RC. You will go through slippers. You have to be mindful of water (unless running waterproof gear). You will need to decide what batteries you are going to run and get a good charger to tend to those cells.

If you are talking about the "pain" of tuning a nitro and comparing that to electric I would say it is much easier for those that find nitro intimidating.

yes i am mainly talking about the pain in the butt nitro engine, since i dont live within 50 miles of a LHS having a nitro rc wasn't my best decision ill go back to electric, never had any problems, my stampede worked great for about 3 years without any upgrades and i was hard on it, and if i ever need any parts i can take em off of my tmaxx

Stampedes and Maxx's don't share one chassis part. You could use the servos or shocks(for the rear of the pede, anyways). Nitro isn't too bad once you have the basics down. You just have to have a totally sealed engine that isn't shot. If a nitro engine is sealed and has compression, it will run.

yes this is true that they are very different but everything that has been going wrong on my truck had to do with the truck being a nitro, electric has many advanages to it. nitro wears clutches and needs air filter oil. electric, charge batteries deal with occasional electrical problems and replace parts as often as a tmaxx. i didnt mention this in the post but I'm getting an emaxx brushless. i know that its not the most durable truck out there but since i already have a tmaxx i figured that when parts break on the emaxx i can take them out from the tmaxx, ultimatley saving money

Nitro ftw imo. I think nitro is alot funner to get down and dirty with and just learning everything I can about the entire setup, electric bores me

Nothing wrong with electric. In fact, a good BL setup can out-run a nitro and is just as fun. Just add a nitro soundtrack... Or make car noises with your mouth...

The other good thing about electric is that you can run it anywhere and the neighbors won't complain about the noise.

"Or make car noises with your mouth... "

That's what I do :)

I just switched about a month ago from Revo 3.3 with Picco .26 Max to an e-revo brushless with 6s. I switched becasue between work, my kid and the honey do list I didn't have time for the Nitro stuff anymore. I love my electric but miss the tinkering with my nitro. Electric is much easier, I always keep one set of lipos charged up. Just throw the batteries in and go. But my awesome picco revo sits in the corner sobbing now.

Sobbing, but ready to pounce.:) I really like having both around. People that aren't familiar with hobby-grade rc's get a pretty big kick out of a nitro rig. The plug and play ease of electric is killer though. The only chargers I have at the moment only charges at 1.2 amps, but it's still too easy to throw a couple of batteries on at 6 A.M., and be ready to rip at 9 A.M. My old Rusty with a Evx 1 esc and 23t 550 runs for well over an hour on a couple of charged 4600 Tenergy's. Being I run rigs alone, that's usually plenty to give me a fix until the packs are charged up in the evening.

I'm also amazed by the run times. Been a long time since I have had an electric RC. They have came a long ways. Mine came with 4 maxamps 5250 11.1v lipos. Ran it on one set pretty hard yesterday for about 20min then ran it again today for about 20min and the batteries still weren't drained, and I still had the other set charged up and waiting. I do miss using my nitro, but man this thing is awesome.
