My freind has decided to get an onroad and I suggested he get the TC3 so we can race and bash without having the same car(I have a highly modded RS4 3 SS).He's looking at the TC3 kit for rear exhaust non pullstart engines. My questions are what engine is a good one? He's compiled a list of stuff to get so far so I just needed to double check and see if everything is ok and will drop in without much hassle. Here is the list.

He already has the tools and servo's and that kinda stuff but i'm wondering if the engine will fit and if that is a good starterbox for this car.The kit says it includes the header and exhaust but i'm wondering if it fits this engine also or should he order a better one?

Go with the header in the kit, it works just fine. And fits well too!

The only thing I would change out of the bunch is the starter box. I'm not familiar with Durratrax starter boxes but I do have 3 different OFNA ones and wouldnt have it any other way. NONE of the 3 have ever failed and ALWAYS do their job! I use a 12v gel cell in all of mine too. A little heavier, ok a lot heavier, but they last a loooooong time and can be recharged overnight.

PART NUMBER: 10246
PART NUMBER: 10247 RTR
Used For: 1/10 On/Off Road, 1/8 On/Off Road, Nitro TC3

Just keep in mind, OFNA's directions are virtually non existant and moving the doughnut around is a cumbersome task. Once you get beyond that (no big deal) you have a great starter box!

Rex - i will strongly recommend christians decision on the starter box too. either get the ofna multi box, or the AE box.

As for the engine - if u really like that engine, get it - but it isnt that easy to tune, all it is, is a renamed Picco. I would STRONGLY recommend instead - to either go with the OS .12TR, or the Mugen MT.12

Ok i'll suggest a better starter box.He has a buggy too so it shouldn't ne hard to talk him into it.As far as the engine goes..... is this the one your talking about NA? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCNA3&P=0

He's looking for something to keep up with my Fantom powered SS so thats why he was looking at the Wasp. Will a Fantom fit in the TC3 with no problem?I really like my Fantom,it was very easy to tune and makes lots of bashing power. Is this the header/pipe combo?

I don't know much about the TC3 so thats why i'm asking.I'm more of an HPI fan but I know the TC3 is a very good racer/basher I just neeed more info on it before my freind starts putting money into something like this.

rex - that engine is just fine - although he can use the standard non-turbo TR also.

the pipe header combo is useless as the one that comes with the kit is about the best there is.

yes - u can fit a fantom in the NTC3, but u have to cut the crank. no big deal though, and can be done in about 1 minutes.

Ok so the pipe/header that comes with the kit is good? I guess i'm used to the crappy stock HPI ones. What about this engine? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCKX7&P=7 My tuning skills have gotten pretty good over the years but i'm still not the best so something easyier to tune would be better.

Why won't the Fantom fit right in the TC3?It says SG or threaded style crank shafts can be used?

that sirio engine will not fit.

the NTC3 uses a short shaft, or SG shaft.

U can also use a standard threaded shaft and simply cut the crank, which is what i had to do with my OS as i couldnt get the slide carb with an SG crank.

The sirio engine is a Pilot shaft, this engine willnot work on an NTC3 unless you do some serious mods. notice how the threads are only on a portion of the crank? this is what creates the problem. I would encourage you to stick with the original idea of either the OS .12TRT or the Mugen/Novarossi MT.12

BTW - rex, aint seen much of ya on the other site - coming over here for good, lol?

Ok i'll stick with the O.S as my final suggestion.

The other site as slowed down alot since the change and alot of good guys left so now the forum is starting all over again. It's kinda hard to get a question answered by a group who is still learning the aspects of the hobby. A few guys are still their and the info comes but it takes a while.I like this site.I've been reading the posts and stuff around here I like the atmosphere here. You guys seem like you've all known each other a while and all get along for the most part.

Can we use this quote for a testimonial? lol.

aside from the occasional spat - this site really does have it all. its big enough to find all the info u need, yet it has a core group that really does feel like family. Glad to see you posting more here. Compare my post count of 168 at the other site, to my post count of 3004 here, and you can see which one i prefer, lol.

LOL! I've read some of the arguing but for the most part it seems like freindly poking but I could be wrong lol.Antother thing I like about this site is the general chaos forum. It gives you a place to rant and share stuff non r/c related stuff witch gives you a better feel for the group here and keeps the other forums clear of arguing. The other site doesn't allow this and all we can talk about is r/c so you never really get to know each other outside of the hobby.

glad to here some positive comments. although i am not a moderator, admin, or any other type of member other than one like you - i do consider this place my second home - so its good to see others enjoying it. now - go post some more pics of that hottie in you avatar, lol.
