Hey folks! Its been about a year since I've been active on the site. (roughly the time of 2 semesters lol)
I have a nitro rc street car, but really want an electric truck, something i could turn into a scale rig. I have been offered a trade for a traxxas e maxx.
I do not have enough knowledge to know whether or not this is something I could work with.
I'm looking for something like the honcho thats featured in the scale rigs section of the forum.

Thanks guys

The E Maxx is by no means a scale RC, it is a electric version of the Nitro Powered T Maxx, both are in the monster truck class of RC's, I have a E Maxx that I have done a lot too but it will never be a scaler unless you can find a huge body to but on it and then it would be more like 1/6th scale, LOL!!! here is a pic for you of mine.

lol thats what I was afraid of. I do like the picture, but its not the way I want to go with mine. I'm afraid the same thing will happen with that one as that happens with my nitro. sits in a box. I want to continue to modify and customize. I realize you CAN do this with the emaxx, but not like a scale.
Thanks for the help. Turned down his offer.

If you like the SCX10 TR then you might also like the SCX10 Honcho

Axial SCX10™ w/Trail Honcho Body™

Trail Ready™, 1/10th Scale | Electric | 4X4 Truck

SCX10™ w/TRAIL HONCHO™ BODY
The latest SCX10™ is inspired by off-road vehicles that are basically part truck and part buggy, nicknamed "truggies". The new Axial SCX10™ is the kit to have when it comes to having a realistic looking truggy. Scale features such as the steel c-channel ladder frame, plastic molded cage, and plastic front bumper with aluminum skid plates are included in this kit. These are just a few of the features that set this kit apart. WHAT IS THE SCX10™
The SCX10™ was designed to resemble its full sized "scale/1:1" counterparts, yet is still able to perform and crawl like a 2.2 AX10 Scorpion™ competition crawler. Unlike the AX10™ which is purely competition driven, the SCX10™ doesn't compromise its look for pure performance although the SCX10™ is a more than capable trail rig on or off the trail. SCX10™ vs. AX10 SCORPION™
The SCX10™ uses the same ultra durable transmission and axles as the AX10 Scorpion, but is built around a more realistic or “scale” frame. It also runs smaller, more realistic looking wheels and tires. These trucks are designed to have fun with especially if you have a few friends that have scale rigs. Getting a few guys together and going out for a scale trail run is one of the best things you can do if you're an avid off-roading enthusiast.
tr-beveled_icon.jpg
WHAT IS TRAIL READY?™ Exactly what it sounds like. This rig is designed to take-on some of the toughest terrain on or off the trail because it comes fully equipped with all the neccessary hardware. All you need are batteries and you’re ready to attack the trails or blaze your own. GALLERY

My first scaler was the SCX-10 kit. It has great instructions and the quality of the kit is first class. If you want to see how everything works, this is the version I would highly recommend.

Id recomend a scx10 kit also. Its very user friendly and you get to pick a body for it and do something unique instead of just buying one thats already setup. The price on scx's have came down alot too.

RPP has them for cheap.

Is the only difference between the reg honcho and the rtr honcho the transmitter and receiver? I know the rtr comes with one, but I like my 3 channel that I have on my nitro. And would sell the car without them if I could use them on the scale rig.
This was the kit suggested a year ago when I wanted to make the switch lol

Without looking I'm going to assume the honcho rtr has all electronics maybe minus batteries. The honcho kit would be no electronics.

yeah. I've looked up the various scx10 models. I found the one with the old truck body cf-100 for $199 as just the kit. Then the trail honcho kit for about $280. and then there is one with the jeep body for the same price. Is the only difference the shells? I would hope not lol

No the Honcho has a longer wheel base the the jeep version, and a spare tire if I remember right, LOL!!!! other then that the axles are the same and they will go together pretty much the same.

The CF-100 kit also has the shorter links. That's the one I got and added my ESC/Motor, RX and servo.

Thats the only way to go imo, you get to use your own lid and make it some what original ;)
