  1. Bashing
I purchased what was supposed to be a 3.3 T-Maxx only thing i got it cheap cause it came with 2.5 tranny. Should i Upgrade to a 3.3? or put a 72t robinson spur on here and leave it alone. I'm using it for a bit of bashing and a bit of ripping it up and down the street. The guy guaranteed it was a 3.3, just with a 2.5 tranny. Do i need to chage driveshafts if i go to a 3.3? I'm rambling, just help me please

Is your transmission grey with the optidrive or the black case trans?..The black case trans came in the Gen1 Classic Maxx with Pro.15 and also the 2.5r Classic Maxx...I put a 3.3 in my 4910 Gen1 Classic Maxx and left the black case transmission and it holds up real good and has plenty of overall power with 22/72 gear ratio. The only thing that wont hold up is the drive/center shafts....You need to use the classic Maxx shaft ends coupled to the 4909/08 centershafts for durability or get some hardened steel traxxas centershafts.I also upgraded mine to 4908 a-arms/knucklesw/bearings and driveshafts for overall handling..Good Luck

how do i know if the center shafts are 3.3 and this goof i bought the truck from didnt change those too

To simplify a Bit

I purchased a T-maxx which was a 3.3, but the dude pulled the 3.3 tranny and put a 2.5 in it. but i only paid it 150 so i didnt care. I have a few questions.

1. Is it worth it to change to a 3.3 Tranny (right know its a 2.5 with 72t spur)

2. Are my shafts ok (They are stock 3.3) or do i have to change them if i want to go to a 3.3 tranny

3. Should i just put a robinson racing spur on the one i got?

i put a 3.3 motor and 3.3 trans in my truck, it was also the 2.5 classic. the trans has held really good.

i got a 3.3 motor in mine and i put a 3.3 trans, mine was the 2.5 classic also it has held up really good

I run my Gen1 Maxx converted to 3.3 almost everyday now after ditching the .15 ..Todays traction test was with MGT 8.0 tires and rims which worked out really well and may stay..The gearing I'm running now is the 22tooth RRP hardened bell and 72t rrp spur...I had a 24/72 which was good for flat surfaces that wasn't grass or dirt or acheiving top speed but the 22/72 has alot of pull

If you decide to put the 3.3 trans back in it then the stock 3.3 driveshafts will be fine...If you have them on the 2.5 trans right now they are gonna wiggle badly and be sloppy on the output shafts because the black trans output shafts are slightly smaller than the beefier grey case trans output shafts......Good Luck..

with the 3.3 trans its set up for high tourque application so for what your wanting to do you only need a 66-77 tooth gear

alot of people are telling me to not use steel bell or spur, "their meant to break" they say. TRUE?

The clutchbell should already be steel. I used an Integy steel spur on my 4908 for a while. It chewed up 2 clutch bells, so I would say no, don't use a steel spur gear.
