I've decided to buy an SS kit and would greatly appriciate any advice or recommendations as to what radio, servos and other general items that are needed, and/or recommended. Sources to purchase, or websites that you like with part numbers would be gret too.
I'm working on aquiring LST shocks, a .28 Fantom w/ steel pipe, HPI cam steering & throttle mod, diff gears(would like a spooled rear, w/ a LS front), 5 or 6 cell re-chargeable hump pack, SS disc brake set.
I will be ordering an extended (1.5") and lowered CG chasis w/ extended dogbone. I was thinking of running the LST tires & wheels. I am looking for wheel spacers(1") to widen it.
Anything you may think I've overlooked, or don't advise, please let me know.
Thanks

PS.
Feel free to email me @ [email protected]

Do some research, as the LST shocks have some issues with the rod ends and shafts. I have seen the shocks and even though they are HUGE, I have seen them break on stuff that a Savage takes easily. Look at the UE shocks. THey are pricey but worth their price when you run em.

Yea thats what I run and I love them.. Still love the bead lock X75's the best but the wide offset rims (.75" rpm I think) really help ... I only have wide ofset rims. But I would NOT you the spacers... I think its askig for desaster.. but they are worth atry.. If they were indestructable I would use them on a lot of rims that I like that arent wide offset.

Skip,
Who makes the X75 Beadlocks ? I thought they looked great and would love to get a set. i wonder if they would fit my Revo, same hub as the T-Maxx.

should fit every maxx sized hex..

Maximizer makes em.. They are slightly heavyer, and some tires pop beads and some dont.. stock tires for insatnce.. pop way easy. LSTs never.

I have the Trinity low roll foams in my stock tires and haven't popped a bead. I wonder if the harder foam helps by keeping the sidewall flex to a minimum?

I was running that too.. thats odd. I know others that found the stockers to pop.. I mean I got used to it and used them, but you knew on a tumble that one tire needed matianence.. Then the LST tires, which are very soft, still havent needed to be re-mounted.

Maybe I am just lucky, I have also heard others who have the bead popping problem with the stockers or other soft tires. I'm sure there has a small margin of user error in torqueing the screws down, they were a pain in @$%^& to get in, so I tried to make sure they were nice and tight.

Of course, now that I've said this my beads will probably pop tommorow....lol

Yea there is definatly a technique to getting the screws going. I do get better every time but there is always a naughty word in there at some point...

I hope your luck continues with the stockers as I like them tires.

Bought a NIB RTR . I wanted another truck to play with our Revo's (I've got 4 "Chilens"), so I bought the RTR today and have a new SS28 on order, should have it in a month or less.
I figured I would break it in stock, Then I'm installing a few mods, such as breaks, HPI steering, better servos, a decent pipe, extended and lowered chasis and some beadlock wheels w/ LST tires.
I just bought a nice NiMHD battery back w/ quick charger for it. I also bought 4 LST shocks NIB to install.
Skip,
Didn't you say that you had to change the shock towers to mount the LST shocks? If so, I would love to know what you advise and were I can aquire same.

I will post pics shortly, once I begin construction. I do have a few decent small AVI's of the Revo's and Savage jumping together, not sure how I can post it or where.
See Ya!

Vey nice, you will probably one of the first to have the new SS kit. Make sure you write up a review for us!

Congrats again on your purchase!

I've got a question about breaking in the .25 motor in the Savage. They state that you're supposeed to let it idle thru the 1st tank? That will take fo-eva! So far I've just done some basic heat cycling like I used to break in my 2 stroke Pilot motors.
1: Fire it up, idle for about 5-7 M, then shut down for complete cooling.
2:Repeat same, except I slowly rev it up and down to 1/4-1/2 throttle for about 10-15 M.
Repeat same again with total cool down between (same is on two blocks, so tires are off the ground).
Next step will be to drive it @ 1/4-1/2, then 3/4, cool down.
Then lean just enough to be able to hit full throttle with out it bogging.
Does that sound acceptable?

Heat cycling is a good way to break in an engine as long as you are reaching minimum temps which I think is 200 F. I think your method is sound.
