I'm try'n to get back into rc stuff and have never messed with gas or nitro.. I was wondering what would be a good car to start of with..?
I want something thats fast but pretty durable also. I'm leaning towards an off road buggy. I don't know much about small motors but i'm pretty handy with my hands and can ussualy work on just about anything.

I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions.. I think I could handle a kit and maybe that will give me a better understanding of how the parts fit and work together.. I also wondered about used cars. I didn't know if its worth savig the money on the first car or just go new with less potential for faliure..Anyway, thanks for looking and drop me a line!!! I'm located in south ga..

I will most likely just be running in the backyard and jumping some but would be nice if I could get into racing some later. I guess I'm looking for a good all-around car that would be upgradable to race preformance.

I've been looking at the 1/5-1/6 scale gas buggies.

Yeah, I've been looking at those. Seem to be a little easyier to work on because of the size and I guess gas is less maintenance and less operating cost..Thats what I heard anyway.
I'm just not sure it is fast enough.
The nitros run so much faster. Is there really a lot more cost in operating a nitro???

there is always glow plugs as well
they dont last as long as a spark plug that are in the gas car

but if you like tinkering on things nitro is always great cause u have o constantly tune the engine ... change plugs . tune sometimes new gallon of nitro ... tune engine not always alot but still needs reset ... the weather changes have to re tune.....

the best parts of nitro are the tinkering... just need the patience and the money

I would still go with the baja there bad ass to watch. But nitro is fun

I also agree

At the end of the day its up 2 u which way u decided to go but i know if i had the room i would DEFIANTLY go with the Baja

BAJA'S ALL THE WAY :first_place:

if price is a concern for you the baja is a pretty expensive rig to start out with. . .if you want something you can run and tinker with and not spend a whole heck of alot of money to get started, (remember this is my personal opinion) go with a Traxxas Revo model 5308. Easy to work on, pretty quick 45mph+ right out of the box after break in, and parts are cheap and there is a lot of upgrades you can get right from traxxas or any other good r/c company.. . .just putting my 2 cents in there.
At any rate Welcome to RCNT

Thanks guys. I did forget to add that price would be a concern.. Try taliking your wife into spending $1000 on an rc car when your out of work!!!

realisticly, I will be looking at used car since I don't have alot of cash. would need something durable and upgradable since the buggy would most likely need some repair. Why replace stock with stock??
