I am wondering if I should look for a battery with the Traxxis high current connector on it, or if I should just use an adapter. I'm thinking it would be cheaper to adapt it

If you can solder it wont matter just buy connectors at your LHS, personaly I like my new Turnigy packs

You don't want to be running adapters with any modern, high output packs. Just causes unnecessary resistance. Solder on the TRX plugs or have somebody do it for ya.

X2 it's easy enough to just change the plug on the battery to the type you are currently using.

I've had good experiences with Turnigy. Although, I did have one with defect from new state. Hobbyking took care of it though.
