I've got a sportwerks chaos I'm looking at modding, only simple things for now as this is my fist nitro RC. as with most mods i do i would rather build the parts myself then buy something off the shelf (where possible).
so far I've done a few small things, locked the rear diff (damaged diff so it was the easiest fix), modified the centre diff so only the rear wheels get power but the front wheels can brake and I've also added another spring to each shock to stiffen it up a little, oh and I've modified the right hub so the axle wont fall out (common problem with the chaos).
anyway I'm looking for some more mods to try so i probably need a few things answered first from people with more know-how then me i guess:
1) the carb hole is much smaller then the outer diameter (so it restricts air flow) this is how they come out of the box, if i open this hole up will if have any negative side effects? (heres a pic)

I'm assuming they limited the size of the hole to restrict the air to work as a rev limiter so being a single needle carb at the top end it will probably be a little lean normally so to get more top end speed i could increase the size of the hole (or taper it for better flow) and run it a little richer? (of course the low speed will suffer but i dont really mind)
2) i want to remove the pull start and make a removable "drill" crank, any tips? (i know i can't rotate it to fast and have to be carefull not to flood the engine) ill be retaining the one way nut to make things easier.
i think once i have enough experience ill do some more upgrades (bigger engine/fuel tank etc) but for now I'm just getting into it so any advice would be helpfull.
