hey guys my piston is leaking a liitle fuel through where the glow plug sits not alot but little puddles around it any ideas as to why this is happening
its a new thunder tiger ts4n

yeh i tightned it up and got the washer there too

Not so sure then dude, try using a different glow plug.. that's all i can think off.. better of waiting for someone who know's more about rc than me :P

The number one suspect with oil puddles on the head is usually either the glow plug or the copper sealing washer. If they are both ok, check the head bolts to see if they are all tight. If even one headbolt is slightly loose you will get a puddle of oil on the head and the engine will be an absolute MARE to tune and keep tuned, plus, you would note high temps and instability of the engine tune when running.

thanx .. yeh i did notice it was actually high reeving by itself during running also acceleratring by it self ~? ill by a new glow plug tommorow c if it fixes it because it cuts out too

try the engine head bolts while you are around the engine, as i say, they can work loose and cause havoc to the tuning..........

Try an OS#8 plug in there in place of the T/Tiger one or maybe an enya plug (pricey, but worth it).

ill look into those plugs thnx
btw where are the head bolts ?

look at the top of te engine, there should be either 4 or 6 bolt heads showing spaced in a circle holding thwe engine head on. Usually black annodised. Make sure they are TIGHT. get the engine warmed up to running temp and just "tweak" them down snug.

T/T engines are a pain in the A$$ where the head is concerned and tightening the bolts with the engine at running temp is practically the only way to ensure those bolts are keeping the head down and avoiding air sneaking in there.

Another thing to watch for is the pull start one way bearing loading up with oil and slipping on the starter shaft.

Also ensure the carb pinch bolt is tight as well, these are often looser than they should be even directly from the factory, at least, they have been on every t.tiger engine i have had the privilige (misfortune ?) to deal with.

not being smart here at all, but could you define tight?? i recently believe i may have warped my crank case on my schuey so I'm wondering is it when it gets hand tight or do i tighten it till it wont move anymore etc etc, thanks a million

Dave

My version of tight, is when you feel the bolt lock, then "click" or "squeel" as you finish tightening down.

This may be "over tight" to other people, but i have never had a problem with air leaks or bolts working loose anywhere on an engine since i adopted this way of tightening down.

lloyd evans, that is what the cross pattern was invented for. wind one bolt in, then the opposite one, then the one opposite to that one etc etc in a "cross" pattern, until all bolts are nice and tight.

have you seen the "occult" 5 point star ?? if you follow the line of one point of the star, eventually, that line will return to the opposite side to where you started in a pattern, maionly7 because the occult star can be drawn without lifting the pen FROM THE PAPER.
