This is a mod I did to eliminate the one-way bearing for a roto-start system. This mod will only work if the back plate shaft is slotted like the one in the first picture (stock). First thing I did was remove the one way bearing in the second and third picture (Back plate with bearing & Back plate without). Next you would get a 12MM nut like in the forth picture (12MM nut). If you could get one with a hole small enough to fit the shaft snugly you would only have to drill one hole. now on every other hex drill three 3/32 holes and with a 3mm .06 tap thread the hole's like in the fifth picture (Drilled and tapped). Now on the back plate shaft make 3 small flat spots like in the sixth picture (flat spots). Now put three 3mm .06 screws in the tapped holes on the nut and center it on the shaft. Make sure it's centered by tightening the screws alternately and use lock tight on the screws. Look at picture seven (installed). now cut the heads off the screws flush with a dremel unless you have socket head screws small enough to fit flush. Now reinstall everything like the way you would have the first 10 times you replaced the one way bearing. There is several different ways this could be done but I just did it with stuff I had laying in my tool box to give a general idea (finished hex). Do not do this mod if you are using a pull start. The reson is becuse the spring in the pull start does not have enough tension to recoil the string against the resistance of the O-ring seals on the backplate shaft. I suck at writing directions but I tried my best and I hope it can help a lot of you out.

Nice tip, the OWB can be a pain in the ass. Looking to eliminate my sleazy start altogether just can't make a decision on what I want to get.

Dude, no one is going to be able to see your photos stored on your personal ftp account. They need to be on public storage (like Photobucket) or upload them here...
